We are a small family business that offers scuba diving training from the age of 10 years and upwards we can facilitate training to enable the participant to fully qualify to a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver. We are also a fully stocked retail store that offers everything for the scuba diver and snorkeller. We also stock some items for swimming such as suits, goggles and flippers at very competitive

rates but always good quality. We have created an extensive community of divers And so even a diver that comes on their own and without a buddy can come along and meet new people once you've completed a PADI course with us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025 NOTIFICATION

Well, here we are in a brand new year. The snow has gone and the days are getting longer and the water will slowly start to warm up again ready for budding new scoobie scuba learner divers and our established divers alike.

The painting of the roller blinds was quite a job in the colder weather as they had to be stripped down, de-rusted with a grinder, prepped with sealer, then undercoated and then we applied four layers of industrial strength paint! The sea air drifting up Talbot Road from the sea front doesn't like roller blinds!! So, hopefully our hard work will keep the blinds looking smart for a while to come.

WINTER IS COMING AND THE SCOOBIE SHOP IS PREPARING NOTIFICATION

Now that the colder weather is upon us we are preparing for the winter maintenance of the Scoobie Shop. So, lots of rubbing down the old paint and on with the new. Including replacing old boarding that's gone through tough weather and rain and replacing the old shop phone number with the new one.

Then, it's more painting inside to keep things looking fresh.Theres more to it than just slapping on paint so we are going to pace ourselves. And of course it's all subject to the weather being kind to us.

So, from next Wednesday the Scoobie shop personnel will be taking a well earned break and will then set to and tackle all maintenance work. To allow us to do this we will close for the winter period. Please feel free to message us on messenger as we will always aim to get back to you.

Thanks to who has supported us throughout the year. Here's to next year's courses and more fun times to share.

WET SUIT, SEMI DRY, DRYSUIT RESCUE CHALLENGE NOTIFICATION

Hurray! We've just delivered a bespoke rescue diver course and set the challenges for Scoobie Darren to meet all the scenarios and objectives of this demanding course. Whether in a wetsuit, semidry or drysuit we've done it all. The Rescue Course with First Aid Primary and Secondary care with AED and Defibrillation covers such alot. This course also teaches you alot about yourself as a diver and particularly as to how you'd cope in an emergency situation. It's only at this level of scuba education that as a diver that you start to realise that you really don't know what you don't know until you are asked to 'perform' 'under pressure' so to speak. Especially when a situation suddenly presents itself and you find youself to be the person that potentially can save a life.

After many hours in the water both on the surface and below, Scoobie Darren has learnt rope throwing using different techniques of throw, towing a diver in various ways, tired diver, panic diver, recovering a diver both conscious and unconscious from the shallows and from the deep, whilst providing rescue breaths and towing along the way once recovered to the surface whilst at the same time accessing a resus mask and de-kitting both yourself and the diver being recovered along the way whilst still towing!. Then, once out of the water putting his recently taught emergency first response skills into practise. Phew!! We've all certainly worked very hard and it's been worth every minute.

Like with all divers, at what ever level you are at, it's important to then work on perfecting any new skill that's been taught so that the skill becomes natural to perform. This, Scoobie Darren must set out to do on every dive.

So, it's a BIG congratulations 🎊 to Scoobie Darren and a big well done to for the awesome assistance from our trusty Divemaster Andy and the shore assistance from Chief Scoobie John Edmund.

And to close for today it was lovely to hear from a local swim teacher at the quarry say to John that she sees us regularly at Capers and how very professional and thorough we are every time we are there. I'm tired now after another long day in the water but positively beaming having delivered another safe and successful course. Thanks as always to those who support what we do xx

TIME TO GET BACK IN THE WATER TO SCUBA DIVE NOTIFICATION

Holidays and quick breaks seem to go by fast, and so, without further ado it's time to put on the scuba kit again this week to continue with delivering the Rescue Course.

We re-open tomorrow at 10.30am. There's still time to get those all important dives logged before winter sets in. Revisting skills and logging dives are all a part of being a conscientious scuba diver.

MAINTENANCE AND A MINI BREAK NOTIFICATION

Here at the Scoobie shop, Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail, it's that time again to do abit of maintenance before winter sets in both for the building and ourselves after a busy diving season. It's also birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 week for moi and ready for some time out.

After today, Saturday the 14th, we look to re-open on Tuesday September 24th at 10.30am. Feel free to message us on FB messenger with any pressing enquires.

We are out diving again on Wednesday September 25th delivering a rescue course.

THE RESCUE COURSE FOR THE CONSCIENTIOUSNESS DIVER NOTIFICATION

The Rescue Diver Course Changes How You Dive

Many people say that the Rescue Diver Course is hard but that it will change how you dive – in a good way.

Initial diver training focuses on personal diving skills and building confidence, and the Rescue Diver course is the first time that divers start to look beyond their own diving experience and become aware of the safety of others around them. This awareness can also heighten their own dive skills and make them more confident divers. Dedicated practise keeping calm and optimistic though is important each step of the way. Especially as here at Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail as all participants will recieve a comprehensive, typed critique of their performance. This is provided as a valued reflection tool as the feedback aims to highlight what you did well and what you need to practise in order to improve.

The course makes you aware of others around you and makes you a safer diver overall. You learn to anticipate and fix minor issues before they become emergencies. Moreover, you gain the knowledge and skills necessary to rescue yourself and others in many emergencies. And, you practice doing so until it feels second nature.

All should sleep well tonight. Well done to all involved and for supporting what we do. Scoobie Darren you worked hard on the skills today. Well done. Team DM Andy was the perfect 'victim' with excellent roll play. Here's to the next session.

MORE GOLD STARS JOINING THE RANKS OF SCOOBIES NOTIFICATION

Jessica and Harrison, both juniors, completed the PADI Jnr Open Water course recently. We are all very proud to welcome them into the hall of Scoobie fame. Thanks to their parents and grand parents for their support too and of course our trusty Divemaster Andy.

FROM TEN YEARS OF AGE AND UPWARDS WORKING TOWARD AN AWESOME GOAL NOTIFICATION

At Scubaco, where merfolk dreams take flight,
Jess, Alannah, and Harrison train day and night.
PADI Open Water, their ultimate goal,
Guided by Carolann, with passion in her soul.
Divemaster Andy lends his expert hand,
As they learn to navigate both water and land.

Bubbles ascend as they practice with care,
Mastering skills beyond compare.
Safety drills repeated, again and again,
Their dedication clear, it's plain to see.

Hard work pays off, their progress astounds,
As an Instructor I beam as their confidence abounds.

CAMERA AT THE READY, SO HERE IS SOME ACTION! NOTIFICATION

I thought it would be good to get the camera out again and capture some footage of our Jnr Scoobie Oliver starting the PPB bespoke Speciality course. As a junior diver his current depth limit is 12 metres. So, seeing him maintain buoyancy at 12m recently was truly EPIC!

DM Andy also managed to get some go pro vids as well. I will likely post some of these soon too as action shots in a video always provide a better view of our day underwater.

Well done Scoobie Oliver for having achieved the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course and to his mum Ema for supporting what we do at Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail

UNDERWATER NAVIGATION, A SKILL NOT TO BE IGNORED NOTIFICATION

Scuba divers initally qualify with a modicum of experience in navigation but it's only touching the surface, so to speak. Navigation is a skill to be perfected if a Scuba diver is truly to be, a Scoobie Diver!

Experience, practise and engaging on courses that home in on this important skill all help to conquer the art of Underwater Navigation.

So, here enters Scoobie Ema. Ema, shown here with Team Andy and (moi capturing the evidence), worked on this craft this week. As the photos show, Ema was spot on guiding us to features I'd specified that I wanted her to take us to.

Lots of divers avoid doing Navigation and prefer instead to aimlessly wander around the Cape quarry whilst stumbling across 'whatever' and, quite often get lost in doing so!

So, be like Ema, practice this skill, engage onto courses that will guide you in this craft. Support a local business that will bring out the best of your underwater experience.

Well done to all involved this week. You never know when being able to navigate, could help you achieve an awesome dive by getting you there and......back! And, the great sense of accomplishment.

THE PLANE.....THE PLANE..AND THE MYSTERY TOUR NOTIFICATION

Our intrepid Scoobie Duo, Darren and Bacchus Daniel had an epic time at Capernwray on Sunday. Scoobie Darren had chance to show off his spanking new semi dry suit ftom Waterproof International and Scoobie Dan has provided more awesome videos that all on here enjoy to watch.

Two great dives taking in the right hand road and after a safety stop followed with a deeper dive on the left. Attractions such as the CESNA aircraft and the helicopter along with the BIG Podsnap vessel were visited. To finish off the dive Scoobie Dan took an awesome video of the big commercial plane that sits at approx 18m. Here he has captured Scoobie Darren winding his way through the plane. Evidence shown there of Darren demonstrating his perfect bouyancy skills, and, proudly in his new suit too!

Well done to both of you. Another two epic dives to log that provided fun and adventure. Excellent!

GOING OUR WAY? AMAZING WHAT YOU FIND UNDERWATER NOTIFICATION

Our intrepid scuba divers from Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail went out to Capernwray diving feature Park mid week and whilst diving came across a van, underwater.

Scoobie Ema got all excited and mee-moed to Scoobie Bacchus Daniel to film this exciting find.

Fancy a lift back in the van? Noooooooo, our fab divers navigated themselves back to the exit by using their compass and put in motion the skills they've been taught by diving the dive out back to base.

GOING ALL MODERN AND PHONE DIGITAL NOTIFICATION

As mentioned, a few posts ago, Scubaco Ltd a Scuba Diving Centre of Excellence for Training & Retail are embracing the digital age given that landlines as we know them will gradually be phased out. By late June 2024 the old landline number will no longer be available. I've updated all our social media, website and Google business to reflect the new phone number. Should you spot anywhere that I've missed then flick me a message and let me know.

So, after one hour and 8 mins chatting to our new provider in order to obtain this new number (obviously rocket science getting new number, hence the time it took, lollol), here is the newly awaited number to contact us at Scubaco....

It captures Scoobie Ema brilliantly. Here she is practising her buoyancy skills on the standing up horse. Neigh! You say, is it for real? A horse? And yes, it's one of the many features underwater at Capers.

FANTASTIC VIS AND A FUN DAY NOTIFICATION It's always great to be able to share real videos of our Scoobies having fun underwater. Sunday found Capernwray packed to the rafters and the sunshine beating down with quite poor visibility underwater vis due to the amount of divers there. Then, roll on Tuesday and what do we have......none other than clear visibility and plenty of room to park. Short and snappy videos were taken by Scoobie Daniel, Bacchus Svg. THE GREAT THING ABOUT DIVING IN COLDER WATER NOTIFICATION The video here was captured by Scoobie Daniel as he tried out his new camera. The colder water tends to provide us with clearer water given that not as as many divers have kicked up the bottom sediment. Our Story - Creating Mermen and Mermaids for the Future

We are a small family business and a centre of trainings & retail excellence that offers scuba diving training from the age of 8 years We are based on Talbot Rd, Layton in Blackpool. From the age of 10 years and upwards we can facilitate training to enable the participant to fully qualify to a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver. We also have a fully stocked retail store that offers everything for the scuba diver and snorkeller. We also stock some items for swimming such as goggles and flippers at very competitive rates but always good quality. We have created an extensive community of divers And so even a single diver can come along and meet new people once you've completed a PADI course with us. Where pool training is required, we use Rossall School pool. A purpose built pool with 3m at the deep end and a shallow end for starting off, thereby allowing each participant to go slowly, slowly and build up confidence. The pool also has a public viewing gallery. We run SCUBA parties from the age of 8. Many Scout and Guide groups that come for a party have worked with us to gain their Watership Badge or, simply experienced the fun of being underwater and breathing! Parties are great fun and allow a birthday child, for example, to invite friends to put on full scuba kit and play underwater games such as egg and spoon, relay race and catch the fish in a net to name a few. The party is heavily discounted to enable children to experience this fantastic sport at a price that is affordable. There is NO compromise on SAFETY. Safety = Fun.
