Today marks the summer solstice when we have the longest day of the year. In Inverness, situated at 57.48 degrees north, the sun rises around 4:14 AM and sets at 10:19 PM, providing nearly 18 hours and 5
minutes of daylight. This extended daylight is a hallmark of Scotland’s northern regions, where the sun barely dips below the horizon.

The extended daylight hours of the summer solstice are celebrated across Scotland. Festivals, outdoor events, and various activities are scheduled to take full advantage of the long days. This period is also
ideal for photography, as the prolonged golden hours provide exceptional lighting for capturing Scotland’s stunning landscapes.

“Had a fantastic time being put through my paces in navigation by Andy. His teaching is calm and he meets you on the level your at. I learnt much and came away feeling confident in getting myself around with map and compass. The lodge is a relaxing stay and the food is fantastic. Morning and evening meals are an excellent way to unwind and chat with the other guests at the lodge. Excellent attention by Andy and Rebecca. Highly recommended.”

Our Hike and Bike Remote Munros holiday begins on Saturday 6th July and takes in some of Scotland’s remotest high mountains. The start of each hike is reached by mountain bike on good estate tracks. They are long days so the trip does require a good level of fitness.

This short break is a distillation of the two great features of Britain’s largest National Park - its landscapes and its wildlife. At more than three times the size of London, the Cairngorms National Park is home to a quarter of the UK’s rarest species.

From the native woodland and farmland of the valleys up though the heather moor land to the artic tundra of the high peaks, the routes take us from one distinct habitat to another. On top of all the wildlife we come across on our walks, each evening we visit a wildlife hide for a closer encounter – three wonderful days.

3:11 pm today. Now, anyone who knows anything about Highland Winters over the past 25 year will know March is generally the best for winter conditions in the mountains. It should be no surprise, we are a maritime climate and it takes time for the huge thermal store that are the oceans, to loose their summer “warmth”.
