Cornish Cycle Tours - Self Guided Cycling Holidays in Beautiful Cornwall. Cornish Cycle Tours was created by Lanyon Rowe who prior to running cycling holidays would take a week off work each year to cycle around Cornwall. It was a great adventure and he soon realised that it was something other cyclists may like to do so come up with the idea of Cornish Cycle Tours. Back in 2007 we started out wit

h just one tour (The Cornish Tour 8 Days) now called the Poldark tour due to the popularity of the tv series and all the places featured in this series that this tour passes on route. This tour was carefully planned and designed to go on the quietest roads possible, make use of the many cycle tracks Cornwall has to offer whilst still experiencing the best of Cornwall - the scenery, the sights and the great food and drink. To take the hard work out of the cycling we would transport our customers luggage between overnight stops, Organise there accommodation, Provide transfers to and from local Railway Stations / Newquay Airport and provide them with waterproof daily Maps and easy to read step by step directions etc. We soon realised that due to peoples different fitness ability’s that one tour wasn’t enough so created more tours of different difficulties so as to make sure there was a tour suitable for everyone. Over the years we have expanded on this by offering extended tours to The Isles of Scilly off the coast of Lands End and Providing Sports Tours for the serious cyclists. In 2013 we were the first in Cornwall to introduce the hire of Electric Bikes and these were ideal for those looking to set a more leisurely pace for there holiday, or for groups with varying fitness levels. Cornish Cycle tours is the only Cycle Tour Operator in Cornwall and we now offer a range of 15 self-guided tours varying in difficulty and length to suit all fitness levels and abilities. We run easy leisure tours averaging 16 miles a day for cyclists wanting a relaxing holiday and plenty of time to visit the many attractions and sights on route. To Extreme tours such as our 4 day sport tour with an average daily distances of 64 miles and a 28% incline hill for those who want to challenge themselves. In 2020 we have expanded our tours further with the introduction of our new Luxury Tour for those who prefer a little bit more style and comfort.

If you Love your hills we've got the perfect route for you. Our sporting Road Tour 4 Days which we designed for road bikes has been created to be as tough as possible with daily distances of up to 78 miles a day. We have classed this tour as extreme and is sure to be a challenge.

The benefits of cycling a tour this Winter are that everywhere is a lot quieter and you can take advantage of our discounted rates. The rough stormy seas can be an awesome sight to see but the weather can be risky so be sure to bring appropriate wet weather gear just in case.

Great way to end the week with a lovely present of Cornish Malt Whiskey and Thank you card from Luc & Hilde from Belgium who have had a fantastic time on there extended 17 Day Cornwall & Isles of Scilly tour of which they finished today. We're delighted that they have had a great holiday and very much appreciate their lovely gift. We're always delighted to hear that our customers have had a great tour 🚴‍♂️🥃🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

Returning Customers Jack & Linda who cycled our Coast to Coast tour a couple of years back have returned to cycle our 8 Day Poldark Tour. They are staying in St Ives tonight and it was great to hear from them today that everything was going well and to receive some photos.

🚴🏾‍♀️🍁🚴‍♂️🍂September has got to be one of the best months for cycling one of our tours, The summer holidays have now finished making the small towns, Fishing villages and cycling trails quieter. It's ideal cycling weather as it's that little bit cooler and feels very autumnal 🚴🏾‍♀️🍁🚴‍♂️🍂

We booked “The Cornwall & Scilly Cycle Tour – 14 Days” with Cornish Cycle Tours in January 2024. We took the tour from mid-June 2024 and we were very excited.

The tour was meticulously prepared with a lot of information and maps. The individual support from Lanyon Rowe was always very competent and friendly. The airline didn't deliver my luggage until 3 days later. Lanyon picked up my luggage at Newquay Airport and took it to our accommodation. Thank you very much again!

We were lucky with the weather. There were only a few short showers and a single day of drizzle. This allowed us to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and ancient places even more.

The stages of the tour were very varied. We were able to discover many very beautiful landscapes along the cliffs and also very beautiful towns with old and rustic buildings. Every day we were excited to see what awaited us on the next stage.

On the tour there was a good mix of different modern and also traditional hotels in the country, at the harbor or on the beach.

The route sometimes contains larger inclines and descents, for which an e-bike might also make sense.

Our conclusion: A trip we will never forget. Recommended!

We did the Poldark Tour in July 2024. We have done many cycle tours in UK before and were delighted that this proved to be the best we had ever done.

Everything was so well organised:
Punctual pick from the station
Good ebikes
Terrific accommodation
Well thought out route selection

The scenery has magnificent, with every day having something different. There was never a dull moment. The challenging gradients were handled well by the ebikes.
We used the RidewithGPS route app and had no problem with navigation.
We are already planning another cycle tour in Cornwall with Lanyon and Cornish Cycle Tours next year.

Cornwall is renowned for being one of the safest places in the world to travel to. And that is what i believed until what i witnessed over the last 2 days, Both Yesterday and today in Porthleven i saw seagulls diving down to steal food off people, A young boy was crying when one dived down and knocked his ice cream off his cone and is mother had to buy another, The woman today looked shocked to think they stole half her pasty out of her hand, There a big bird as large as a cat and they seem to be getting more brazen all the time. If your eating outside in a seaside location keep your wits about you, There not as lovely as they look, They are the rats of the sky 🚴‍♀️🥟🦅🚴‍♀️🍦🦅

We're not having the best summer ever in Cornwall this year but Stefan & Cornelia from Germany who cycled our Conish & Scilly Tour still managed to have a wonderful holiday despite the rainy weather on some days. They had plenty of sunny days as well but it changed from day to day. A few photos that they shared with us.

We've been running cycling holidays since 2007 and introduced extended tours to The Isles of Scilly 7 years later in 2013.
During that time there has only been 1 passenger ferry to get to St Marys on the Isles of Scilly (The Scillonian 3). There is now some competition and I've just seen the other companies Scilly Ferry In Newlyn Harbour. All current customers booked on The Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Tour are all booked on the Scillonian 3 ferry as usual but we'll be sure to keep a close eye on both ferry's so as we can decide which is the best service for our customers to use in the future 🚴‍♀️⛴️🚴‍♂️🚢

Busy day in the rain today, breakdown at Portmellon of which we managed to get there in 15 minutes and fix it and get them back on there way 🚴🏼‍♂️☔️🚴‍♀️

The toughest of the tough, Chris Michelmore’s group of 10 from London now setting off from Padstow to cycle 55 miles to Falmouth on our hardest 4 day Cornwall tour in whats looking like a terrible rainy day, Fingers crossed the weather clears up a bit for them 🚴🏼‍♂️🌧️🚴🏼‍♂️☔️

Harald & Suzanne from Austria recently cycled one of our tougher sports tours "The Cornish Tour run over 6 Days" with 5 days cycling averaging around 35 miles (57km) a day with some steep inclines. We have had super good feedback from all our customers this year and these two thoroughly enjoyed it and left us this message "Thank you for organising this amazing trip through Cornwall with an extraordinary and wonderful landscape" as well as some awesome photos that we always like to see 🚴‍♀️🌞🚴‍♂️🏝

We’re not salesman from Volkswagen but the works van we bought off them in 2011 has turned out to be one hell of a piece of kit. We’ve now just slipped over the 300k mile mark and drove the equivalent of 12 times around the world 🌍 which is a lot of times around Cornwall so we know the area fairly well. I'd like to say we’ve looked after it well but in reality we’ve hammered it carrying full loads of luggage, Cyclists and Bikes and not once have any of our cyclists missed a train or plane from us being late, Theres a few more miles left in him yet 🚙🛣️🚙
