Have you heard Truro Cathedral is hosting Gaia from Friday 6th October - Saturday 28th October.

General hours in the most part will be Monday - Saturday 10.00 - 17.00 and Sundays 11.30 - 15.30. However please do check the Cathedral website for the opening hours for the specific day you intend to visit. Some dates have time variations due to other activities and events taking place.

There are also relaxed sessions taking place on 11th, 17th & 24th October from 15.00 - 16.00 and there is no need to book for these sessions.

We are hosting our China Clay Gala on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of September; tickets can be purchased on our website (link below) and here's what you can expect...

Clays clays clays! The clues in the name. We will have three steam engines in steam, those being: visiting prairie 5553, home loco 5552 and 'Judy'. As well as appearances from our diesel fleet; 08359, 47306 & 50042, over the weekend.

New for this year, experience the clay wagons like never before! With a converted clay wagon, we will be offering rides inside the wagon, bringing you a whole new and very unique trip. More information on costings and timetables to follow soon.

Our popular brake van rides will also be available to purchase on the day, where you can ride behind a small set of clays along the line.

Tickets are available for either day or the whole weekend and begin at £12.50. Keep your eyes peeled for more information and timetable release very soon!

You can access the cycle trails directly from Ladyvale Barn, and we have secure storage for your bikes. Get pedalling!

We are pleased to update that across Forestry England the mountain bike trail grading system has been simplified ✔️

While these changes are unlikely to affect Cardinham's trails directly, it is always good to be aware of what's going with trails across the country.

Whether you're an occasional fair-weather cyclist, or a keen downhill mountain biker, it's important to be familiar with our trail gradings. Whatever your ability, please stay within your skill limits, and always wear appropriate protective equipment including a helmet ⛑️

We escaped the heat this afternoon with a walk from the little moorland village of Minions. There are two free car parks to choose from, both of which allow you to walk directly onto the moor. We strolled over to the two stone circles, called The Hurlers, then climbed the nearby tor, to look out across Cornwall from the granite rock formations, known as The Cheesewring. On a clear day you can see the sea. We extended our walk and didn't head straight back to the car, but circled the base of the hill and walked back along the old mineral tramway which you can find by looking for the granite sleepers poking up through the grass. About 3.5 miles in total. We could hear a cuckoo in the distance all afternoon, if we knew more about birds we'd be able to tell you all about the ones we saw!
It's interesting that although it's very much an old industrial landscape with old engine houses and mine and quarry workings the ancient standing stones were left untouched.
In the village there are two tea rooms, but the pub is unfortunately closed due to a fire last year. We usually take a picnic, it's a favourite spot for locals.
