Hello August!

The month of holidays for most of us school-orientated people...where are you going? Do you need any help booking or want some suggestions of where to go? Let me know if you do!

The last couple of days has been lovely in the sunshine hasn't it! We have had the paddling pool out, been pond dipping and generally just loved the outdoors! Long may it continue. What have you been up to in the sunshine? Drop a comment below to let us all know!

Good morning!

My apologies for not updating sooner about our last couple of days in London but time ran away with me and then it took us EIGHT HOURS to get home yesterday... all was going well til we stopped for a KFC in Warwick and that took ages. Then the M6 was just 'red' all the way back! Luckily there was an endless supply of snacks/sweets available, plus a few games of Eye Spy (colour and letter versions) to pass a bit of time. Today will be the day of washing etc and no doubt some outdoor activity.

On Saturday we went to a really fun Aqua-obstacle course in Kent! It was so much fun!!! We couldn't take pictures of ourselves because we were all on it but you can see what it looks like in the pic. Highly recommened!!!! So many giggles and un-lady-like positions to be found in but well worth it. And who knew Freya would be the dare devil she was! Swinging off the high swing into the water and down the steep slides! Great fun!

Followed that with a visit to a park and Sunday a visit to family. Another day, another hot tub dip! This time it was a cool tub because it was super hot down there!

Not too much planned for the rest of this week so hit me up with CHEAP (spent a lot down south!!!) and LOCAL (driven too much recently!) activities please! 🤣🤣

On a serious note, thoughts and sincere condolences to the families, friends, staff and all those affected by the stabbings in Southport yesterday. Totally heartbreaking. ❤️

Ooh I am a bit partial to London. I love it! I'm a typical tourist even though I've seen it all a few times before! Anyone else with me?!

So today was a leisurely get ready and train into London. Then we hopped onto a tour bus and breathed in the London fumes for a while without seeing too much!! (Might have gotten on the wrong colour bus?!) A nice lunch at King's Cross and a splash in the 'streams' outside the Google HQ.

Then we walked down to the IET. What is that you ask? It is - the Institute of Engineering and Technology.... that typical London landmark all the geeks go to 😜😜😜 the perks of having an engineering hubby meant we could go to the rooftop and see some more fab views of London!

We then found a lovely little garden restaurant/bar... girls entertained themselves and we had some drinkies. Then a little walk to St Paul's Cathedral, back onto the bus and train back home. Just waiting for a yummy bbq... they do things later darn sarf!

OH and no celebrity spots today 😥😥😥 I forgot to tell you yesterday's..... remember Chris Witty from the Covid days? Next slide please? That was a clutch at straws 🤣🤣😜

Over and out for today...19,406 steps is pretty good considering we went on a bus tour!

No idea why this didn't post to FB earlier!?!?!?!?!

Hard to select only 10 pics to summarise today...

Tubed/trained it to Westminster and walked up to Trafalgar Square to receive preferential treatment to a rooftop guide to London's skyline 😃 bit windy up there and silly to wear a short dress when climbing some ladders onto the roof!

Then we got a Tesco meal deal and sat in the square (they were fiming a Netflix documentary called The Diplomat.. must watch out for that!) and then we walked down The Mall to Buckingham Palace. And that's where it went a bit Pete Tong!!!! Somebody decided to "show Baby Dobby Buckingham Palace" but accidentally dropped him out of arms reach... see pic. I was going to attempt to use a brolly to retrieve him but I was told 'No, No' as the CCTV would be watching! 🤣🤣🤣 After deciding I didn't want to get shot by a protective sniper, the staff member went to get the ARMED POLICE to hand the trespasser over. Stress over.

Then we walked a long walk to the Natural History Museum and that place challenges Westhoughton Leisure Centre for the hottest place on earth. Did what seemed like 7 miles of walking in there!I wasn't too overwhelmed BUT must remember it's free! 🤣🤣🤣

Then we met up with an old Wigan friend for a drink and a walk (via some tacky souvenir purchasing!) and have just scoffed some fish and chips and are ready for a hot tub dip!

You'll forgive me for keeping it short and sweet but 23, 312 steps later added to heat, deems for an early night!

I need to remember that I can't post both pics and videos on here!!! (Did an Instgram post earlier but Fb doesn't allow mixing and matching!)

And zzzzz.... we have succumbed to back to the room to watch some Netflix... 17,000 steps since 2.30pm is taking it out of us!

Started the drive down at 9.50, had some lunch at Warwick Services and arrived in Windsor at 2.25. Made good time!

When we arrived, we quickly dumped our stuff and walked to Windaor Castle via a park and The Long Walk. What a lovely little place 🥰 Took some piccies and walked around the castle, eventually finding somewhere to have a drink... which is where we spotted Frank Skinner walking past along the Thames! Was too slow to take a pic!

We then decided to have a mooch towards Eton College and guess what!?!?! We walked past Jermaine Defoe!!!!! I wasn't really paying attention but caught his eye when it was too late! Fuming!!!!!!! (I feel I may be a bit more excited than you guys but I DO LOVE a celebrity spot!!!!) Keep tuned for potentially more in London! 🤣🤣🤣

Found a curry restaurant (of course), scoffed it and ended up with the girls doing some cartwheels.... there's a pic of the back of FRANK SKINNER walking his dog (again!) on Insta, but a piccie on here !!!!!!!

Walked back to our accommodation...knackered now! Just nibbling some midnight snacks and bedtime for the girlies soon!

Not too much to report for Day 2... lots of errands completed today and much quicker due to my lovely friend giving my kids lunch and providing them with some wet entertainment 🤣🤣 😘😘😘

Feels like it's been productive: dentist, supermarket, pharmacy, packed lunches made (I've told you, they don't count in the holidays!!!!!) and suitcases semi-packed! Now to chill a bit and paint my nails 💅

Guys... I had to have a nap today! I can't remember the last time I napped 🤣🤣🤣 am I getting too old for these shenanigans?!

Thursday was the end of school for me and Friday the end of school for the girls! No more packed lunch making for 6 weeks!!!! (Picnics don't count 🤪) Friday night saw us Carrolls go to see at Robin Park. If you want to enjoy a concert with young kids, here's my advice:
1. Don't take them

If you DO have to take them, then here are some 'tips'....
2. Snacks....
3. Take own drink in
4. Take pocket-size boars games (see pic)
5. Find railings on which they can sit / do gymnastics on
6. Find crushed cans with which they can play can-football
7. Find some very drunk people who are willing to entertain with can-football or who will provide entertainment with flashing lights.

Won't be repeating for a while!

Saturday was a lazy day until we got the train into Wigan, mooched round Primark (had to buy an emergency outfit because I was SOOOO hot) and then tea in Spoons 🤣 A quick meet up and drink in and a VERY WET walk to the arena again to watch When I say wet, I mean SATURATED!!! To the point where it was hilarious!!! Concert was good. We then mooched around a couple of bars in Wigan and ended up at an old curry house til 1am!!! Bed by 1.30... I can't hack it!

SHOCK - I have no more concerts lined up!!! Not sure how this sits with me?!?!?!?! I'd love a cracker from you!

This morning, we had a family game of tennis, followed by footy and a bike ride! And organising our upcoming London trip - how expensive is London activity planning?!?!?! £120 for London Eye... don't think so!

Is it bedtime?!?!?!

I know and I apologise... I've been a bit MIA recently... feel like life is whizzing by and taking all the energy from me on its journey! Or is it just because it's the end of the school year and it's so crazy busy?! Well either way, I'm back and you've almost got a good 6 weeks of me 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Where to start!!! Another busy, busy weekend, and it's not even over yet!

Friday began with a trip into Manchester for at the new Co-op Live. Funky venue. Lots of mini co-ops on the concourse, plenty bars and toilets. Much better than the toilets at the cricket ground for Foos 🤣🤣🤣 but let's not talk about the prices of drinks...one small can of a gin and tonic.... £9!!!!!🤬🤬 Luckily we only needed to buy soft drinks... if you catch what I'm implying 😲😲😲 LG was supported by Cast and it was a good little evening!

Saturday. day! If you haven't done an Ironkids before, I definitely recommend. Such a cute little event and all the kids love it...as do the adults! Georgia went first at 12.10 and Freya at 1.30, so in-between the two races we mooched to the pound bakery...you don't actually get anything for £1 do you 🤣🤣 managed to scoff a sausage roll and steak slice...needed to soak up the booze from the night before... not just soft drinks 🤪🤪
Both girlies ran well and we managed to watch a few other friends do their races also - so cute seeing all the kiddies together. Had a pit stop in Bolton Museum/Library to use the toilet... you had to queue next to some books. Swipe to see Freya's book of choice to read 🤣🤣🤣

Back home for a BBQ in the rain...nothing a quick purchase of a gazebo didn't sort out! Scoffed that and toasted marshmallows... again, swipe the pics to see the measures some of us were forced to take because of the smoke stinging our eyes! 👀🥽

Anyway, now it's now. And England play in just over 2 hours...might fall asleep during that match. Not because I'm tired, but because of how boring it might be!!!! COME ON ENGLAND!!!! 🦁🦁🦁

What a day! Walked the girls to school and it was G's sports day this morning... it lasted 2 hours!!!! But it was worth it! She smashed it out of the park!!! Won her 3 races... those long legs really helped! Now we are going to try to enrol her in a running club - any advice/suggestions?!

Then walked back home for an hour and a half before walking back again for F's sports day...who also smashed it, winning her running race! Then we all walked back home and downed the liquids and ice lollies! Teatime, then we scooted to Rainbows! How those kids have any energy left is beyond me!!! Scooted back. Put some washing away and scooted again to school, and back again!!!! Man alive. I am shattered so I've no idea how all those kids are feeling after sports in the sun! It makes me want a break......

Is there anyone else out there who is just cream-crackered like me? I know it's been a busy couple of weeks, with concerts, writing moderation, reports due and just general life, but crikey, it's a struggle to type this out 🤣

Had a nice long walk yesterday near Anglezark with some family - around 4.75 miles which isn't bad for the smaller people amongst the group! Obviously followed by a well-deserved beverage at The Yew Tree...very nice pub. Highly recommend the tuffle and parmesan chips! That was followed by a mmmmmm. (The chips were just a snack!!!) We watched the Rooney documentary last night... I'll keep my mouth shut on that one!

Today was the usual sports clubs, then the girls had a party and we went to Middlebrook for an eye test and trip to Smyths (Toy Superstore as Freya likes to call it) for G to spend her birthday vouchers. Is that the worst shop in the world when you're tired and lacking patience?! 🤣🤣🤣 anyway, G bought a makeup pallet...of which something blue is now smeared on her carpet. Oh and she also bought some Beanie thing... which at bedtime, was reported missing!!!! 🤯🤯🤯

Now it's bedtime for me...well, at the end of the football. (Here's hoping that the Hungarian striker recovers well 😐)

And we STILL haven't made any summer holiday plans 😓 although have found some, but we just don't agree 🤣🤣🤣
