- Acquisition will see expanded travel safety and crisis management offering to travel industry -
Dec 2022 - Expert health & safety and crisis management consultancy tranquilico has been acquired by Atkin Jones Limited to operate alongside its existing travel safety brand, Sanderson Phillips.
Founded in 2016 by David and Aimée Atkin, Atkin Jones Limited operates a three-brand portfolio of businesses specialising in risk management consultancy and outsourced business support services to the travel and leisure sectors.
Set up in 2008 by Colin McGregor, tranquilico provides health, safety and crisis management consultancy and supply chain auditing to tour operators, schools, sports teams, DMCs and suppliers of transportation, activities,
and excursions. Alongside Sanderson Phillips’ accommodation auditing, the two brands already share a number of well-known clients including Abercrombie & Kent, Trailfinders, Kuoni, Scott Dunn, Elegant Resorts, and ITC Luxury Travel Group, with the partnership currently providing safety grading information of more than 23,000 suppliers in 168 countries.
The acquisition will see tranquilico Managing Director Colin McGregor and Associate Director Mick Yates continue to operate the tranquilico brand under Atkin Jones Limited. Sanderson Phillips Business Development Associate Lisa Darchambaud will be responsible for generating new relationships for both brands in the UK and in emerging overseas markets.

We just wanted to advise our old, existing and any new clients of the sale of tranquilico to Atkin Jones Ltd (who own and operate Sanderson Phillips). A full press release will be issued shortly but in the first instance we wanted to advise our clients first.
We have agreed terms and the completion will take place early January 2023, it’s a very exciting time for us and also for all of those businesses who currently work with us.
I want to assure everyone that nothing will change immediately – Mick, myself and the team will be continuing the tranquilico operation. However, over time you will get to see the benefits from the combined offering of both businesses and tranquilico clients will ultimately be able to gain access to a massive portfolio of accommodation assessments across the globe. Whilst the Sanderson Phillips clients will be able to gain access to our growing portfolio of non-Accommodation assessments (covering DMC’s, Transport, Aviation, Marine and High risk activity suppliers around the world).
The merged safety assessment services will eventually all be managed via Sanderson Phillips and tranquilico will continue to deliver crisis management services, production of safety management systems and training workshops for both safety and crisis management.
The only immediate change you will see is that any invoicing due from 1st January will come from Atkin Jones Limited and not tranquilico.
David Atkin, Sanderson Phillips Managing Director and I will ensure that we continue to provide a high level of professional service to all our clients as we progress with the integration over the coming months.
