Welcome to the weekend everyone. Sunshine and showers is the perfect rainbow recipe and here's an extraordinary example bridging the mouth of Boscastle Harbour from the Willapark headland to Penally Point with Meachard underneath. There are an abundance of rainbows in Boscastle, either it's a very special place or just too much rain!
If you are planning any activities in the harbour, along the coast path or local beaches, please take note of today's tide information in Boscastle...
Low Water 04:39 2.3m
High Water 11:14 5.7m
Low Water 16:50 2.5m
High Water 23:33 5.9m
Sunrise 05:05, sunset 21:33

You will see from the tidal range (the difference between low and high water) that we are near the neap tide (moon is perpendicular to earth and sun), meaning the water doesn't come in as far and doesn't go out as far as a spring tide.

Local tide and weather information is posted on the National Coastwatch lookout station door and available on VHF CH 65 for marine users.

Mist rolling into Boscastle Harbour on the Boscastle Headlands circular walk. 3.3 miles graded moderate. Link to walk: http://iwkc.co.uk/w/112

From the harbour, the route follows the Panoramic Path, with excellent views over the village, then crosses fields to reach the Coast Path overlooking Pentargon waterfall and follows this towards Boscastle, with spectacular views of the harbour on the descent. The route crosses the harbour to the coastguard lookout at Willapark and returns via Forrabury common and church and along Boscastle's Old Road.

The Valency Valley on the Boscastle to Minster Church circular walk. 2.6 miles graded moderate. Link to walk: http://iwkc.co.uk/w/93

The walk starts at Boscastle Harbour and follows the River Valency, inland, up the Valency Valley. It then turns into Minster Valley, at the top of which sits the ancient Minster Church. From here, the walk crosses into the Jordan Valley and after passing Boscastle's oldest pub, descends the valley along the now tucked-away Fore Street and Old Street which were once Boscastle's main road.

A note from Rick: 'Well I really hope you enjoyed the first few episodes of the new Cornwall series. I particularly liked going on Bodmin Moor with Jack Stein, it's a really nostalgic drive for me, and then of course meeting up with my old chum John Harris, and a bracing winter dip at the wonderful art deco lido in Penzance. Finally, going out dredging for oysters near Falmouth, called Carrick Roads - I always think, that's not roads, it's the sea. Anyway, hope you liked it and do join me again next week'

There are plenty of hidden gems in Cornwall that you might never have thought of visiting. Everyone knows about the most popular tourist sites like the Eden Project, St Michael's Mount, and the endless list of stunning beaches along the coastline.
But for those of you who are looking for somewhere new to explore, we've put together a map of 20 of Cornwall's hidden gems to visit and it includes the fascinating history behind them and information on their cultural significance.
These locations will help you forget about the usual suspects and walk the less trodden path - perhaps unearthing your new favourite location in a place that people rarely speak of. https://bit.ly/3HMKyCh

Lovely feedback from our last guests and I totally agree that it probably has the best view in North Cornwall
