Another stunning day, but boy is it cold. It was as low as minus 6 on the road to Inverness yesterday and I doubt it will be much higher, today, add to that there's a full wind blowing straight in off the sea, making our old house whistle. Luckily for our guests, Coorie is a bit better insulated lol.

Many of the schools in the area are off today, so there will be lots of happy kids about!

It's a wee bit chilly today! OK, OK, so it's a big bit chilly today, but it still looks gorgeous!

The wee vid is when I first saw the otter this morning, from the hedge, it's at the waters edge, then swims, you can see just how well they blend into the seaweed!

This was taken 4 days ago by the crew of the Kyle Lifeboat. 5 Humpbacks and over 100 dolphins in the Inner sound just over the peninsula, in front of the cabin.

2 humpies were still out there yesterday in between Pabay and Longay. Keep yer eyes peeled!

To guarantee Skye Coorie is perfect for our guests for years and years to come, we use the wood treatment plan as suggested by Coorie's supplier Keops Interlock Log Cabins So when we have a free, vacant and dry day (more difficult than it sounds here on Skye, believe me) we try to treat her with a coat or two of wood protection at least once a year!

As said we use products, they go on well and have a good range of colours. We chose Blueberry, as it perfectly matches the colour of the mountains around us at certain times of the year.

I say it a lot throughout the year, but we really do get fully booked a year in advance. So fair warning - April, May, June and September are very close to being full for 2025 - there are limited dates available in March, July & August. If you do plan to stay with us, please, please don't leave it to late to book!

We took a wee stroll along Broadford shingle beach this morning - the weather has gone cloudy again, but it was so very, very calm.

Otter-ly fabulous. So, so pleased to see this wee soul. It's been too long and we were starting to worry, after finding a skull out front. Many Scots call the fog the rolls in off the sea 'Haar' - hard on the A as in apple, with a long rolling rrrrrrrr like a pirate!! An old Norse word (or related to the Dutch word Harag for windy/foggy/misty.) It's very common on the East coasts in spring, but we also get it here... I'm going to ask my go to Gaelic expert what it is locally. This is a wee quick start function for the new oven.
