Have you ever seen our local shipwreck, just along the beach at Berrow?

The SS Nornen ran aground in 1897. It can still be seen today at low tide (but please be aware of tide times and stay away from the mud flats).

This weekend, enjoy a refreshing couple of hours in the fresh air in Brean.

Kick off with a brisk walk up Brean Down to enjoy stunning views and explore the historic fort, or maybe take a cycle ride along the quiet roads or the Brean Down Way.

Follow up with a walk along the beach, or a run about for the kids, and finish with a hot drink and snack at a local café.

The National Trust cafe at the foot of Brean Down is fully open during the improvement works, and there is still plenty of parking and temporary public toilets available.

Brean Down and Brean Beach are a natural haven for wildlife with Brean Down being a crucial point for migratory birds, making it a pivotal stopover for thousands of birds every year.

Brean Down's geographical layout forms a natural funnel, guiding birds along the coast and providing birdwatchers with exceptional viewing opportunities.

The National Trust has reversed its plans to allow piles of waste sand and material from its car park to be dumped on the beach next to Brean Down after concerns were raised by local residents this week.

What a glorious start to the Bank Holiday weekend we’ve had in Brean, with our very first photo walk, in partnership with the fantastic Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme. 📸 The sun was shining, giving everyone crystal clear views across to the Quantock Hills and beyond. We stopped at the fort to learn more about Brean’s fascinating history and enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream before heading home. 🍦 Keep your eyes peeled for the photos captured by the group ⭐️ Visit Somerset Discover Brean
