A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the volunteers at Talgarth Mill. Tomorrow (Saturday 23rd) will be the last day of opening for the Mill, Craft Shop and Bakery before we close for the festive break. We'll be open again on January 3rd which will also be the first day of opening for our new café team!

We're sure you'll join us in giving a warm welcome to Harry and Rachel, who are experienced food professionals, previously of the Walnut Tree Bistro in Langynidr. They'll be open from Tuesday to Saturday during the winter months, opening at 9am and closing at 5pm.

And watch this space, as they say, for some special evening events coming soon in 2024!

The Café will be open again this week ~ from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am until 3pm. Although the Craft Shop and Bakery will also be open, we will only be doing Mill tours this week on Friday and Saturday.

The Bakery will be open as usual from 9am.

The refurbished wheel is still turning and we’re managing to mill small amounts of flour - despite the river being low after no rain for weeks! If you need some of our flour, grab it quickly as we don’t know what the coming weeks will hold weatherwise!

It's been so busy here at the Mill, we've only just realised that the town's annual walking festival is about to take place again! This is always such a great event in Talgarth ~ check out their website for the many varied walks that have been organised: www.talgarthwalkingfestival.org

The event runs from Friday April 28th to Monday May 1st.

The Mill, Craft Shop, Café (Gertie's) and Bakery (Pobl) will be open on both the Friday and the Saturday. Gertie's will additionally be open on the Sunday.

Opening hours are: Fri/Sat 10am to 3pm. Sun: 10am to 2pm.

For the Bakery, it's always a good idea to arrive early or pre-order from their website: www.poblbakery.com

Mill tours will take place on both Friday and Saturday. No need to book, just come into the Mill's Craft Shop reception and the miller on duty will be delighted to show you around. Tours are £5 per adult, £2.50 per child*, or £12 for a family of four. *Children under 5 are free.

Happy Easter everybody!

The Mill and Craft Shop will be open on Good Friday, Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday. We'll be closed on Easter Sunday.

Our millers will be on hand to give tours and we're of course also selling our famous flour! Our garden is free to visit ~ the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee from the café or something naughty from the bakery (tho' you need to arrive early for the bakery as they do tend to sell out quickly!).

Our opening hours are: 10am to 3pm on Good Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 1:30pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

Gertie's, the café here at the Mill, will be open on both Good Friday and Saturday, but will be closed on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

Pobl, the bakery at the Mill, will be open on Good Friday and Saturday (until Noon). They will then not re-open until Thursday 13th April as they'll be taking a well earned break.

The sunny weather is great for visitors but not for the Mill as we're currently unable to mill flour because of the extremely low water levels. We have very little stock left ~ no strong bread flour and only plain, rye and spelt. And those are selling fast! Please check with us before making a special journey to buy flour. Our flour sales email address is: [email protected]

However, we remain open for tours (no need to book unless you're a large party) and of course the café and bakery are open too. As is our garden – which is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee or lunch. The river may well be low but it's still a beautiful setting (with some lovely shaded areas for those avoiding the hot sun!).

Busy work party down at the Mill this evening ~ sealing leaks on the wheel, cutting back the undergrowth along the riverbank, weeding in the garden and ‘curation’ of the watercress that seems to love our leat!
