Very happy with our new laundry room! Previously an unused stable and then a dumping ground the space has been transformed into a lovely, bright and incredibly useful room! No more ceiling-high piles of bedding and towels waiting to be washed in our kitchen! Having this centralised, along with all of the consumables for the barns has made the daily changeovers a lot more efficient!

New laundry room coming along nicely!

Walls and roof insulated with sheep’s wool behind wood-wool and wood-fibre panels soon to be finished with lime plaster

These products from allow the solid stone walls to breath and the building to maintain vapour permeability which is important in historic buildings such as the barns

We look forward to washing the guests dirty bed linen and towels in our very own Beautiful Laundrette 🤩

Can you name the mountain range that is believed to have inspired J. R. R. Tolkien's imagination of Mordor? The mountain pictured is part of it.

Tolkien loved the Welsh language and it inspired many of his place names and characters in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

He is believed to have stayed in the village of Talybont-on-Usk in the 1940s, while working on parts of The Lord of The Rings, and is thought to have named the fictional Hobbit village of Crickhollow after nearby Crickhowell.

🗺️ From wild green landscapes, to historic ruins and charming towns, our park has plenty to see and do!

Why not explore the castles within the park?
Look in on the ruins of Crickhowell Castle built in the 13th century by Sir Grimbald Pauncefote. Like many castles it started life originally as a Norman motte and bailey castle built of timber in the 12th century 🏰
