The ospreys are back! After building their nest last August 'our' pair of osprey have returned from Africa, and are busy refurbishing the nest - hopefully some eggs will soon be laid.

Stump Up For Trees have been to Gilestone today. Rob Penn and a wonderful team of volunteers have done a superb job in establishing two new hedgerows. Excellent for wildlife, and great for carbon capture.

Save Our Curlews! On Thursday we were pleased to host a small group of people interested in bringing back more curlew to the Usk Valley. Numbers of this iconic species have declined drastically in recent years, and we want to do what we can to help them return.

A busy day on the farm, and good progress on all fronts. Woodland work, plastering, tiling, groundworks, fencing, and Chas in his market garden.

Work progressing well with the Gilestone Lodges build. The exteriors are now complete. We are loving our charred larch and natural slates.
2022 bookings now being taken from people we know.

Veg boxes freshly picked from Gilestone Gardens today. This is Chas Heffords' enterprise, and each week he is producing wonderful produce on what used to be the caravan site!

Good progress being made with cladding the lodges. We are using charred larch, (aka shou sugi ban cladding), an ancient Japanese technique that protects the timber against, fire, wind, rain, rot, and insects. Importantly it looks absolutely stunning, and compliments the natural slate roof beautifully.

Lodges build continued...........All 10,400 slates now on the roofs, so we are now dry. Excellent progress, and on schedule so far.

Today we were thrilled to host our first wedding ceremony at Gilestone. This was also the first ever outdoor wedding in Powys.
We wish Owen and Jess every happiness for the future, and thank them for celebrating their special day to us.

Another busy, (and expensive!) day. Today we poured the slabs ready for the lodges to be built on. All being well we will have guests staying in them next Easter.

A busy day at Gilestone as we start work on the foundations of Gilestone Lodges. We aim to have these ready by next Spring. Early bookings will be appreciated!

Gilestone Helliport! Contractors working on the Beacons brought their helicopter to stay at the farm last weekend. We can therefore cater for any guests who would like to arrive in style!
