Good evening everyone, just time to post one last Team Tuesday before the year ends.

This week's Tour Leader is Steve Freeman.

Steve has been a TL for Motorrad Tours since 2015 after retiring from running a barrister's chambers. He moved to Wales and has a great view from his garden.

He is articulate and hilarious, you should hear his tour briefings. Comments such as 'what you see today is a mere canapes of what is to come' and 'the views are a smorgasbord of colour and variety'. Such a generous vocabulary - we love him.

Oh, and don't be fooled by his little legs, he can ride very well indeed, its just the stopping he needs help with if there is no kerb to lean on 😂

He is an avid motorcyclist and has led many of the tours we have to offer. He's a definite favourite with the customers too - what a charmer!

Why not join Steve next year on one of his tours. Here are a few facts about him:

Started Riding: In 1997

First Tour: Picos and Northern Spain with his mates.

First World of BMW Tour: WWI Battlefileds.

Favourite Place You’ve Ridden: Spain (or maybe The Highlands - or perhaps Alaska, or … !)

New Place You Want to Ride: Vietnam.

Interesting Fact about you: He is ex-cabin crew for BA so he’s excellent at serving coffee and tea!

The Motorrad-Tours annual Tour Leader's (TLs) Christmas get together was in St Albans, Hertfordshire this year.

We came together in song (well sort of..!) to wish all of our customers, new and old, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year xx.

Why not get that person you love, or maybe just treat yourself to a Gift Voucher this festive season, help yourself or them make 'memories, not dreams' in 2025.

We have put the words up here so you can sing along (or at least have some idea of what we were trying to sing!)

Merry Christmas one and all... 🎅

On the twelfth day of Christmas my TL gave to me, twelve months to tour in

On the eleventh day of Christmas my TL gave to me, eleven friends to ride with

On the tenth day of Christmas my TL gave to me, ten five-star hotels

On the ninth day of Christmas my TL gave to me, nine UNESCO places

On the eighth day of Christmas my TL gave to me, eight pillion passengers

On the seventh day of Christmas my TL gave to me, seven countries on one tour

On the sixth day of Christmas my TL gave to me, six mountain ranges

On the second day of Christmas my TL gave to me, two Office Staff

On the first day of Christmas my TL gave to me, gift vouchers to go on a tour

The open road calls, and 2025 promises the ultimate motorcycle holiday, a symphony of freedom and adventure. Picture carving through the legendary Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps, each hairpin turn revealing snow-dusted peaks and valleys that stretch to infinity. The serpentine roads of the Pyrenees, threading between France and Spain, await with their thrilling descents and hidden mountain villages.

From the rugged coasts of Scotland’s North Coast to the sun-soaked curves of the Picos Mountains, every mile teems with possibility. Stop to savour a lakeside espresso in Switzerland or watch the sun dip below the horizon as you marvel the vistas in Patagonia, The Canadian Rockies or the endless miles of a Namibian highway. With each twist and turn, the journey becomes more than a ride—it’s a celebration of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes and the sheer joy of exploration on two wheels.

World travel is achievable, and its more enjoyable on two wheels. Let Motorrad-Tours take you to make memories, not dreams.

Good evening lovely people. Its Team Tuesday again.

This week's Tour Leader is Dan McQuoid.

Dan has been a TL for Motorrad Tours since 2017 after retiring from the Met Police and has led many different tours during his time. He’s become a bit of an ‘expert’ in our Arctic and the Midnight Sun tour and has even managed to avoid getting done for speeding over there!

He is an avid motorcyclist and works extensively in the training field as an Observer for both the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), that is when he’s not on the golf course that is. 🏌

He is very used to foreign travel as, during his time in the police, he ran a protection team operating in high risk, low infrastructure countries; so, if on a tour with him leading, you get to the bar after a long day’s ride and its shut, he WILL be able to find you one nearby that’s open 😂

Why not join Dan next year on one of his tours. Here are a few facts about him:

Started Riding: In 1983

First Tour: Mountains all the way in 2014.

First World of BMW Tour: Dams of the Ruhr 2017.

Favourite Place You’ve Ridden: Norway and The Picos Mountains.

New Place You Want to Ride: Romania.

Interesting Fact about you: If I could have a superpower, it would be to be speak several languages.

Good evening lovely followers of Motorrad Tours.

Today is a proud moment for us as a company. We have been recognised by ABTOT for over 10 years of membership and received a prestigious award at Motorcycle Live 2024.

It’s a legal requirement for a tour operator to have some form of financial protection for their customers. ABTOT is a Membership Association with nearly 400 Members and is a recognised and respected by the UK Travel Industry. As an Approved Body, appointed by the UK Government Department for Business and Trade, ABTOT operates a regulated financial protection bonding scheme for Travel Organisers who need to comply with the UK Travel Regulations.

Chris Hone (Tour Director) said today “The fact that Motorrad Tours have been bonded and accredited for over 10 years is a real accolade and achievement considering the travel industry has been through some considerable ‘turmoil’ with both BREXIT and COVID. For our customers, it gives them the confidence to book with us, knowing that their deposit and payments are safe”.

Even more reason to come on a tour with us, seeing the world on a motorcycle and making memories – not dreams.

Come and have a chat with us on Stand 3F20 in Hall 3A over the weekend.

Good morning followers. Welcome back to Team Tuesday. This week's Tour Leader is Paul Mostyn.

It’s fair to say that Paul is the ‘joker’ of the Tour Leaders at Motorrad Tours, as many of the customers can attest to 😊 Don’t worry, he can be sensible too! He has been a TL since 2014 after retiring from the Met Police and toured extensively across the world.

He is accredited with formalising the National BikeSafe project in 2002 and still works within road safety, running his own advanced driving and riding company as well as working for the IAM, RoSPA and local council delivering training and risk management projects. Since Covid he has clinically trained as an ECA and works on front line ambulances for the East of England Ambulance Service, he just likes uniforms!

He enjoys Adventure touring, having toured a lot in Africa, North and South America as well as Aisa, but is just at happy in the UK and Europe, enjoying the variety that all these tours bring. He is a ‘people person’ and firmly believes that ‘it’s not where you go, its who you go with’ that makes a great tour.

Why not join Paul next year on one of his tours. Here are a few facts about him:

Started Riding: On the road 1981, on a Gold Yamaha FS1e

First Tour: 1998 France with no plan, map or money on a Yamaha Super Tenere.

First World of BMW Tour: Motorrad Days 2014.

Favourite Place You’ve Ridden: Vietnam, Patagonia, Alaska, Picos Mountains.

New Place You Want to Ride: Sardinia & Corsica, Thailand and the Himalayas are on the list.

Interesting Fact about you: Although I’m old and fat, I have completed 7 Marathons (some International), 2 Ultra Trail Marathons and 2 Triathlons – just don’t ask me how long it took me to get round🤣)

As the sun sets on yet another successful Motorrad Tours holiday, the customers are wending their way back home with memories, not dreams.

The tour brought warm weather, rolling roads, tight turns, valley views, fabulous food, delightful drinks and phenomenal friendships (yes, I know it begins with a P…😊).

Pretty much all you could ask for in a short winter break on a motorcycle.

If you need to pre-empt the winter of 2025 and plan a quick getaway, why not click the link below and get your deposit in for an Andalucian Short Break.

Time for some winter sun…….🌞

Motorrad Tours is on the move again. This time in Andalucia for a short break. Riding from Málaga through the Ronda Valley to Seville and Córdoba, is a welcome respite as the weather changes here in the UK. It promises to be an exhilarating journey through some of Spain’s most stunning and diverse landscapes.

Starting in Málaga, the group will be greeted by the warm Mediterranean sun as they head west. Quickly, the coastal city’s palm-fringed boulevards will give way to winding mountain roads. The climb into the Montes de Málaga offered thrilling twists and turns.

Soon, they will reach the dramatic road to Ronda. The route here is pure joy for a motorcyclist, a series of hairpin bends and sweeping curves that lead you deeper into the mountains, perched over the famous El Tajo gorge, offering a picturesque place to pause. The Puente Nuevo bridge, spanning the chasm is beautiful but also a bit sinister as it was allegedly where prisoners were thrown to their deaths 😮 (they haven’t done that for a while, so don’t worry). 😂

Leaving Ronda, towards Seville. The ride will take them over wide-open plains of olive groves and vineyards. To Seville with its ornate Moorish architecture, vibrant flamenco culture, and welcoming plazas. From Seville, in to Córdoba the routes will head east through Andalucía’s fertile valley along the Guadalquivir River. Picturesque villages and fields of sunflowers unfolding beside the road.

This journey through Andalucía by motorcycle is both scenic and sensory. The blend of coastal views, mountain roads, and historic towns, along with Andalucía’s characteristic sun-drenched landscapes, it has all the makings of being an unforgettable ride. 👌

It is Team Tuesday again!

This week we have Chris ‘Madge’ Margetts who is the newest member of the Motorrad Tours team.
Chris started riding in 1982 on an old Honda 175.

After retiring from the fire service, Chris spent a lot of time travelling the world with his family in their converted American school bus “Skooby”. 🚌

Another interesting fact about Chris is that he has sailed a suare rigger around Cape Horn, and now claims he is a swashbuckling pirate! 🏴‍☠️

The first motorcycle tour that Chris went on was Dunes of Namibia. After joining the team his first tour with Motorrad Tours was our Highlands and Islands tour. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Although he has travelled and ridden many places Chris doesn’t have a favourite place to ride, he says that it is wherever he is riding at the time.
However, he’s looking forward to riding in Cambodia & Vietnam in the future!

Wind-Back Wednesday to Lakes & Mountains 2019 with Nigel Richardson leading.

This amazing tour ‘does what it says on the tin’. It’s a game of two halves – lakes and mountains!

Lake Como, near Milan is shaped like an inverted “Y,” it has three branches that converge. Its set against the backdrop of the Italian Alps, the lake is surrounded by lush, wooded hills, steep cliffs, and small villages. The landscape is a mix of alpine and Mediterranean features, with olive trees, palms, and snow-capped peaks visible in some seasons.

Lake Maggiore is located partly in the Italian regions of Lombardy and Piedmont and partly in Switzerland’s Ticino canton, it’s the second-largest lake in Italy, extending about 65 km from north to south. Maggiore has a distinct Mediterranean ambiance with lush gardens, subtropical plants, and mountain vistas.

The Stelvio Pass and the Passo San Marco are two of northern Italy’s most famous mountain routes, each offering spectacular views and thrilling roads.

Stelvio Pass is one of the highest paved mountain passes in Europe, At 2,757 meters it’s renowned for its 48 hairpin turns on the northern side and dramatic alpine scenery, making it a favourite among us motorcyclists.

Passo San Marco is equally stunning. It connects the Valtellina region with the Bergamo area, reaching an altitude of 1,992 meters. Completed in the 16th century, it was originally used to facilitate trade between the Venetian Republic and the Duchy of Milan. Today, the pass offers sweeping views over forested slopes, pastures, and the distant peaks of the Bergamo Alps.

Good morning all, and welcome to Motorrad Tours 'Team Tuesday'

This week's Tour Leader is Mark Hamilton.

'Big' Mark' or 'Grand Monstario' (loosely translated to Big Monster) as we like to call him, has been with MT for many years. He not only leads tours, but he is a most excellent 'back up' driver, having supported TLs on many adventure tours round the world.

His mechanical knowledge and ability coupled with his brute strength has helped many of us out on several occasions. Whether it be physically picking up bikes when customers have needed a little 'assistance’ or getting his tool kit out to service or fix bikes, sometimes well into the evening, when the terrain or conditions have deemed that some TLC is needed to keep the bikes in tip top condition and the customers on tour.

A lot of us were present when, in training, we had to do a field puncture repair and before we had the opportunity to deploy our tyre levers, Mark had 'ripped' the rear tyre off a GS with his bare hands...! He just said 'well, you said you wanted the tyre off the rim.' 😮

All this whilst holding down a full-time job as the owner of a successful custom building company in Devon. A little-known fact about Big Mark is that he was educated at Eton. Last year we were lucky enough to go with him back to school where he proudly showed us where he was educated. It was fascinating - thank you Mark.

He is a massive asset to the team and always a pleasure and reassurance when he is in his support role. Just one problem with this 'superhuman' - he snores like a freight train! 😂 A small price to pay for having him with you.

Why not join Mark next year on one of his tours. Here are a few facts about him:

Started Riding: November 2004

First Tour: Morocco 2005

First World of BMW Tour: Morocco - he likes Morocco!

Favourite Place You’ve Ridden: Tajikistan on his three trips from London to Beijing in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

New Place You Most Want to Ride: Japan or New Zealand

Interesting Fact: Mark was a keen barefoot water-skier and got a bronze medal in the British Barefoot Championships in 1983

As yet another successful tour comes to an end and the customers head back to whence they came (all over the world), we at Motorrad-Tours are happy that we have filled their minds with 'memories-not dreams' ready to plan for their 2025 tours with us.

A happy customer is a returning customer, and we strive to make their experience the best we can possibly do. Whether it be the hotels that we pick for their 'local' feel, the routes that take in the best and most scenic roads, the food that we provide as part of our ‘inclusive meal days’ or the experience and reassurance of our Tour Leaders, the whole package is aimed to enable the customers to get the best out of their tour with us.

Why not come and give us a go, come and see us the Motorcycle Live at the NEC between 16th and 24th November on the World of BMW Stand Hall 3A Stand 3F20 and let us help and advise you on your motorcycle tour for 2025.

25/10/2024

Riding through Morocco on a Motorrad-Tours trip is an adventure for our customers that feels like a journey through time and landscape, where every turn presents a new wonder.

Starting in the dusty, sunbaked roads leading to Ait Ben Haddou, they found themselves surrounded by the fortified walls of this ancient city. The village, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a mudbrick kasbah climbing the hillside, their reddish-brown walls blending into the desert. Walking through the narrow alleys, they could almost hear echoes of the caravans that once passed through, trading salt and spices on their way to Marrakech.

Heading south, they made their way up the fantastic Tizi n’ Test pass, a winding mountain road that feels like a dance with the cliffs. The views are breathtaking; they stopped to admire rugged mountains painted in layers of red and brown, descending into green valleys below.

On the way down, of course they had to meet the local camel trader, resting in the shade of a tree waiting for the next 'lucky' tourist who may want a ride round the block. 🐪
