Calon Lan Park, is approximately 200m from Ty Carreg. The park itself is named after Daniel James (Gwyrosydd) who wrote the words to the everso famous Welsh hymn,
Calon Lân (Welsh for 'A Pure Heart'). The words were written in the 1890s when Daniel was living in Herbert Street, Blaengarw which is approximately 800m from the park. Calon Lan is sung to a tune created by John Hughes and although the song was originally written as a hymn, it has become firmly established as a rugby anthem at Welsh games.
