In the late 90′s Dean Woodward was breeding Welsh Cobs and fitting second hand saddles he picked up from tack shops, customers and auctions . Unfortunately he found that very few actually fitted to his satisfaction. In early 2000 Hayley Hyde Andrews asked her saddle maker who had his own brand “the Pony Saddle Company” if he minded if she market a brand called “The Native Pony Saddle Company” . He

agreed to this and The Native Pony Saddle Company was born with Hayley selling saddles based on her saddle makers designs mainly mail order. Meanwhile Dean had been looking at why the saddles he had would not fit his and his customers horses. He had been working with a number of manufacturers to design a new saddle which fitted to his satisfaction and perfecting his unique way of fitting them . Then in 2002, after purchasing the brand name “The Native Pony Saddle Company” from Hayley he had the perfect name for these new specialised saddles . Over the next few years with the help of the original saddle maker who still works with us today, Dean refined the designs based on his experience fitting the saddles all over the country and the input of his customers.

“The Native Pony Saddle Company ” brand went from strength to strength as nothing seemed to fit as well, Due to their innovative trees, wide gullets, specialised girthing and generous load bearing panels with shorter gussets, flocked in a unique way. They do not roll, they do not move up the neck and the ponies and cobs love them. We still provide the Original Native Pony Saddle Company Branded products. All our designs are true to tradition, changes to the designs being made with the introduction of The Pony

Saddle Company range. All our Native Pony Saddle Company Saddles Look The Same, Fit The Same, Feel The Same, Are Made to The Same High Standard By Our Original Manufacturers . Genuine Native Pony saddles will have our trademark stamped on the flap and have agreen nailhead with the pony head on it, they will usually also be recorded on our database.

Morning everyone and Happy new year , as some of you know we are on our annual holiday in Bali at the moment and then working in Dubai on the way home . Just a heads up that we are be taking appointments for the south east and a north run for early February so please feel free to send them through and I’ll contact you around the end of the month once we are back in Blighty . Amazing day in the foothills of the Volcano and then the hot springs, driving around the country in an orange VW with a private driver. Highly recommend this guy if you come to Bali, private car picked us up at the hotel at 8 am, drove us to the volcano and hot springs. Trip included a massage for both of us as well as entry to the springs , a lovely lunch included and he took us wherever we liked on the way back to the hotel , chocolate shop (🤦‍♀️) woodcarving and art gallery got back to the hotel about 6.30 in the evening . All for £131, £105 without the massages , amazing value. Thank you so much 🥰 Vacation tours Buana Vw.

Such a change from our usual saddle fitting and getting our strength back for a crazy busy year as usual 😊

Morning everyone, so November was a busy month and now Deans phone is reminding us where we have been . Getting back to the uk this afternoon after a couple of days saddle fitting in Italy and we will be with Jason Webb for his Christmas coffee morning tomorrow . I’ll be booking the last run north of the year once I get home . 😊

📢📢EXTRA VIGILENCE REQUIRED📢📢
British Equestrian and their member bodies are currently monitoring a reported outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1 - neurological form) in France with cases potentially linked to the Le Mans venue. While this is an evolving situation and they await official confirmation, all members of the equestrian community who have recently been to, are currently in or intending to travel to/through France should be extra vigilant at this time. Please seek veterinary advice before travel and isolate any returning horses as per the quarantine protocols.

EHV-1 is an air-borne disease that can be transmitted up to five metres via coughing, but also through direct contact, via people and shared equipment. It can cause respiratory and neurological signs, abortion in pregnant mares and death of young foals.

It doesn't matter whether you are a pleasure rider, unaffiliated competitor, hunter or just moving your horse where others may be, pre and post checks are imperative. If you have any concerns about your horses health or welfare seek veterinary advice immediately.
