And they're back.!

Despite the current gloomy weather, we're getting ready for the summer season on our beaches.

Our Beach Wardens will be returning today (31st March) in time for the Easter holidays and ahead of the summer season and are stationed at Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean beaches and will remain on duty until late September/October, supervising beach activities, providing basic first aid, checking jetty permits, collecting car parking fees and giving beach safety and advice.

The 14-strong team will be on duty daily between 10am and 6pm.

Don't forget to order any prescriptions you might need ahead of Good Friday (7 April) and Easter Monday (10 April).

Do you have views on how Burnham on Sea High Street could be improved?

There are opinion boards where you can leave your feedback about what you would like to see on the High Street located in the Princess Hall, the Library and the Tourist Information Centre.

Like many others, Burnham on Sea’s high street has suffered immensely during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A combination of changing consumer habits (from face to face to online), lower visitors’ numbers due to Covid-19 restrictions and general shift from retail to leisure and experience observed in the High Streets generally has put Burnham-on-Sea in a vulnerable position.

Back in 2019, the Government commissioned, as part of its Plan for the High Streets, a High Street Taskforce, which is an alliance of place-making experts. The Taskforce has been set up to strengthen local leadership in high streets and town centres by providing information, advice, training, knowledge and data helping people to make a positive difference to their local communities and will be providing expert support to Burnham on Sea until 2024.

We've planted Crab Apple and Cherry Blossom trees in Eastover park either side of the central footway/cycle way to create a varying blossom display every Spring.

Planting trees in urban areas helps with bio diversity and has environmental and conservation benefits.
