Hillside Cottage is located in the West Country in the county of Somerset only a short drive from the old market town of Taunton and close to Bridgwater. There are several long distance walking paths that pass close by, The Coleridge Way, West Somerset Coast Path and 50 mile River Parrett Trail to name just three. Believed to date back 200 hundred years and originally be part of a larger farmhouse Hillside Cottage in Spaxton has exposed beams over the doorways and an Inglenook fireplace with woodburner. Furnished with a contemporary theme, oak furniture a soft suede sofa and handmade kitchen add to the country charm. Far reaching views can be enjoyed over the surrounding fields. “The marvelous walking over the Quantock Hills first attracted us. Outstanding for cycling and walking from the door of the cottage. After an invigorating ride or walk come straight in off the road along the side access to the stone outhouse that stands at the bottom of the back garden. Here there is a tap with a hose for washing off and space for you to store bicycles, boots and coats undercover. Spaxton is a peaceful village with a strong sense of community. We love exploring the network of footpaths and bridleways from the doorstep. Then we found that several long-distance paths pass nearby. In fact the Quantock Greenway passes through Spaxton and Exmoor is just 20 miles away. Even better we discovered our local inn ‘The Lamb’ has an excellent reputation for its food, welcomes dogs, and is just a one mile easy walk on country lanes away.”

Ground Floor. A sunny entrance porch with room for shoes and coats leads in to the sitting room with original Inglenook Fireplace and wood burning stove, a two seater suede sofa and two other chairs offer comfy seating for all guests. Hillside Cottage has just two rooms on the ground floor which are connected by a open arch way. The second space is a comfortable kitchen/diner. A handmade country style kitchen with wood worktops is in close proximity to the dining area and sitting room making meal preperation something to enjoy with friends and family. Up to date conveniences include dishwasher, fridge with icebox, electric double oven cooker with induction hob, microwave, kettle & toaster. Through the back kitchen door the covered veranda is found immediately outside with the rear garden and stone outbuilding beyond. The covered veranda leads to the external utility with washing machine. First Floor; Please note the stairs have a shorter steeper flight than is normal.
