After a recent debate with friends we saw this sign at Busybees Restaurant in Bridlington centre yesterday...

According to the Hullensian in the group, apparently East Yorkshire call it a teacake. Yet, here we are in Brid and (like us Barnsley lot) they call it a fruit teacake!

Sat planning our half term antics and found lots of lovely local activities! From swimming, climbing & jumping at East Riding Leisure Bridlington, walking around Sewerby Hall and Gardens or Bondville Model Village Sewerby and seeing the animals at Bridlington Birds of Prey & Animal Park in the 13° dry weather (yes you heard right, double figures!) to a trip to the The Forum Bridlington to see Bridget Jones in her famous big pants or bouncing around and eating pizza at Jeromes/Pavilion Bar - Brids got it all going on this week. Roll on some school holiday fun, hope you're all enjoying half-term! X

We had rubbish news at the start of the year after finding out our chalet had been damaged...but we soon realised how lucky we were to have such supportive people around us. Without even stepping out of Wombwell our little Shabby Chic Shed was back in all it's glory!

Massive THANKYOU...

❤️ to our great neighbours who were in touch straight away - we appreciate you looking out for us (can't beat Barnsley folk!)

⚒️ to our local handyman who is always on hand and manages to fix anything & everything in a jiffy - literally!

💐And of course our lovely Linda for checking in, caring for & cleaning our home like it's her own!

We arrived last weekend and could just get straight on the beach with the kids - you wouldn't have known it had happened. Without you The Shabby Chic Shed wouldn't keep ticking and that kind of support is priceless and the reason we love South Shore all the more 🥰

🩵 Fraisthorpe Beach 🩵

One of our favourite things to do is sit on the deck early in the morning with a hot cuppa listening to the waves. The kids love the beach and we're in the perfect spot being only a short walk to the front. The hardest choice is whether to walk left along South Beach to the harbour, or right, past all of the WW2 military fortifications and beach defences.

On many occasions, we choose to turn right towards Fraisthorpe Beach. It never gets old, chatting about the war and our grandparents stories and watching the kids hop along the sunken rocks, trying to spot life in the rock pools. Making castles with moats on the warmer days and collecting buckets of cool shells or pretty rocks on the colder ones. We sadly spotted a washed up dolphin once and spent the whole walk chatting to our 9 year old about beach/sea pollution, the ocean food chain and reasons mammals may get beached. Every day is a school day, even more so on holiday 🌊

We absolutely love chilling in The Cow Shed Cafe & Takeaway at Fraisthorpe Beach afterwards with a red hot brew, feeling like we've deserved a bit of something delicious after all the steps! We usually opt for cake or savoury bakes as they're instantly tempting!

Although we don't have a dog, it's great that the beach and cafe are dog friendly. We love meeting pooches and their owners, finding out where they're from and giving them a fuss, watching them live their best life bounding around the stretch of sand 🐕🐶

On the way back we usually take the high path, past the fields, the bunkers and the yacht club, and, if we're lucky, run down onto the beach to see a boat launch. A stroll on the beach really is underrated, and simply one of life's small pleasures. Counting down the days until we're back 🌊⛵️

We love a good cafe and we're spoilt for choice in especially with lots being dog friendly for those with furry friends 🧡
Can't beat a beach stroll rounded of by a mug of warm stuff and a cheeky slice of cake! 🥮🍁🎑🍂
