Thanks to your incredible support, Iโve been snowed under (itโs a good thing, so keep spreading the word please with your friends and family who needs a holiday) with enquires and working through quotes over the past couple of days.
While doing so, I stumbled upon this stunning hotel in Malta โ and itโs available during the summer school holidays too that wouldnโt break the bank! ๐ฅฐ
Am I tempted? Erm, maybe a little bit because Nicholas has been talking about wanting to go for a while now (for all the wrong reasons - donโt ask) ๐๐
Anyways, Ive visited Sliema, Gozo, St. Julianโs, and Valletta, and each of these areas in Malta has its own unique charm. Whatโs โnicestโ (as I get asked a lot) really depends on what youโre looking for, so hereโs a quick breakdown to help you decide ๐๐ป
๐บ๏ธ Sliema
โ๏ธ Best for: Shopping, dining, and coastal strolls.
โ๏ธ Highlights: Modern vibe with a mix of shops, cafes, and restaurants. The Sliema promenade is great for walking along the sea.
โ Drawbacks: It can feel busy and urban compared to more historic areas.
๐บ๏ธ St. Julians
โ๏ธ Best for: Nightlife and younger crowds.
โ๏ธ Highlights: Known for its vibrant nightlife, particularly in Paceville, and great restaurants along Spinola Bay. Ideal for party-goers and those seeking entertainment.
โ Drawbacks: It can get loud and crowded, especially at night (and depends on which months you go too).
๐บ๏ธ Valletta
โ๏ธ Best for: History, culture, and scenic beauty.
โ๏ธ Highlights: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Valletta is full of historical sites, museums, and stunning architecture. The Grand Harbour views and charming streets make it perfect for sightseeing.
โ Drawbacks: Itโs quieter at night compared to Sliema and St. Julianโs, with fewer nightlife options.
๐บ๏ธ Gozo
โ๏ธ Best for: A peaceful escape and natural beauty.
โ๏ธ Highlights: Known as Maltaโs quieter and greener sister island, Gozo is perfect for those seeking relaxation, stunning beaches, and picturesque countryside. Donโt miss the ฤ gantija Temples, Ramla Bay, and the Azure Windowโs remnants. The charming town of Victoria is also a must-visit.
โ Drawbacks: Itโs less lively than the main island, with fewer dining and nightlife options. Getting there requires a ferry trip, which adds some travel time.
โญ๏ธ Recommendation
- For a balanced experience: Sliema offers proximity to Valletta via ferry and easy access to St. Julianโs.
- For history lovers: Valletta is unbeatable.
- For nightlife: St. Julianโs is the place to be.
- Gozo is ideal if youโre looking for a laid-back atmosphere, scenic landscapes, and a more traditional Maltese experience. Itโs a great contrast to the busier areas like Sliema and St. Julianโs.
Many tourists stay in Sliema or St. Julianโs for its convenient location, abundance of accommodations, and access to dining and nightlife. From there, they often take day trips to Gozo for its natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere or to Valletta for its rich history and culture.
Hope this helps. ๐ฅฐ Details and package pricing for this hotel is ๐๐ป
