Jetwing Lighthouse turns 25!

But as your friend I also know this - you have risen before and will rise again, and tourists will not desert you as those that know you well know how strong your heart beats.

Thank the Lord for sensible travel journalists.

On the ground reporting at its finest - showing tourists not even aware of troubles on the island.

At this time especially we should not be turning our backs on a destination that is so completely dependent on tourism. Mis management at its finest perhaps - but it should not and does not affect the every day traveller.

This International Womens Day we celebrate the women of Ukraine. Not soldiers but nurses, teachers, students and friends who pick up weapons to fight for their country whilst the rest of the world stands in awe at their bravery.

In my daily work I am also surrounded by strong women in my clients - each passionate in their work from sustainable travel to rescuing 20 ex racehorses to standing up for equal pay.

Solo and strong I am immensely proud of the women of Ukraine and the women in my life. I stand tall today and salute you all.

Does the traveller inside us ever die? I think not.

Perhaps our desire for comfort and luxury increases over the years but I still often feel like my 18 year old self - hungry for adventure and setting off to Africa on my own.

Perhaps indeed it doesn’t die but instead is passed on? As my daughter is about to set off at the very same age to work on horse safaris in Africa I can only determine this to be the case….

Let us always be hungry to discover the world - and to be kind with every step we take.

He’s a good guy that writing in last weeks Times on the incredible community initiatives put in place during the pandemic for staff and community

Also as I chat to staff at Lighthouse I learn that weary hospital staff and families were offered respite rooms at this incredible hotel - and more of the 34 hotels and villas also followed suit.
