🌮✨Bristol Street Food Favourites✨🌮

Here are my Top 10 street food picks from 2024, in no particular order:

- Pork Souvlaki Wrap with Halloumi: Nick has been cooking on a traditional Greek Cypriot BBQ for the past 2.5 years. Meat comes out tender with a nice smoky flavour. Add the halloumi, if you want a bit of crispy texture to your wrap.

- Huevos Rancheros Grilled Cheese: this was a special offered back in July. Tim and Vic introduced Bristol to a proper grilled cheese back in 2015. Their signature move is to grill all the edges of each sandwich, essentially sealing it with caramelised cheese. Make sure to never say ‘toastie’ when ordering, and dog visits are always encouraged at their stall.

- Alpine Mac bowl: comfort food at its best. Chris and Ysemay imported a 1974 Mercedes Hanomag 306d from Sweden in 2019 and revamped it into a Mac & Cheese making machine. This specific order had salchichón and raclette with their grilled mac & cheese. Make sure to get the pickles and garlic breadcrumbs added to your order!

- Buffalo Wings with blue cheese: move over Red Bull… Gurty gives us wings! has gone from trading in a single gazebo to a fleet of trucks in just a handful of years. Now they’re set to join the family in February and we couldn’t be happier!

- Breakfast Burrito: you can find this behemoth of a breakfast at the on select Sundays. Nath and Kins have become Bristol mainstays, starting as a takeaway-only business at the start of 2021 and growing into a multi-faceted BBQ enterprise.

- Birria Tacos: a new street food trader in 2024. However, Jose has been in the industry a long time, his content is definitely worth checking out. You’ll be able to find his food at the taproom this year starting in mid-January!

- Chimmi the Philly: one of my all-time favourites in Bristol. Inspired by his travels to Argentina, Will started producing these lush steak sandwiches with his own chimichurri sauce. If they’re available, make sure to add their prawns to your sandwich.

✨November in Bristol Food✨

Just so happened that our top choices from this past month were all handheld foods. On the one hand, it made for some messy eating. On the other hand, we had a napkin to clean it up!

The top 5 things we ate in Bristol last month:

‘The Works’ Breakfast Bun from - The ultimate breakfast sandwich… Fried egg, sausage, dry cured bacon, halloumi, beef tomato, mixed leaves and jalapeño mayo. All quality. A masterpiece.

Christmas Bagel from - Gobble Gobble! This sandwich features smoked turkey from and treacle bacon from along with brie, cranberry sauce, rosemary cream cheese & crispy onions. An instant classic! Available at Wapping Wharf until December 19th. Pairs nicely with a screening of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Beef Chilli Pasty from - Lovely pastry and a rich beef chilli filling. Always a 10/10 experience when visiting this iconic Bristol bakery. A train journey from Temple Meads requires a mandatory stop at Hart’s. I believe this is UK law.

Blue Dog from - We said goodbye to our good friends at Dogtown in early November. We made sure to stop by on their final day and enjoy our favourite dog one last time. Beef hot dog, blue cheese sauce, cola caramelised onions and franks hot sauce. Woof!

St Werburger from - My favourite burger in Bristol! I will shout it from the rooftops. My main squeeze. Double beef patty, monterey jack, smoked bacon & caper aioli, chipotle ketchup and confit shallots. A must try.

Add these lovely independent businesses to your food hotspots list and make sure to give them a follow!

✨October Bristol Food ✨

Top 5 foods we enjoyed in October:

- Gin & beetroot cured trout with horseradish creme fraiche and dill oil. Gorgeous colours and amazing flavours from this dish. Stop reading this caption and book yourself a table ASAP. They’ll have this dish available for another week or two into November.

- Eggs Benedict & Eggs Florentine. Perfectly poached eggs with a velvety runny yolk. Not seen in the picture, so you’ll have to take our word on it… or head to Burra to try it for yourself. Make sure to check out their garden terrace when you go to their North Street location.

- Korean Sausage pizza with house-made kimchi. This pizza was a favourite of mine when Bertha’s introduced it as a special earlier this year. It’s now permanently on their autumn menu! A must-try.

- Breakfast burrito! We had been playing a game of tag with Big Nath’s for a few months. Our schedules finally lined up and we get our hands on their EPIC breakfast burrito at the that run on Sundays. It was definitely worth the wait!

- Pistachio Gelato. One of the places that kept getting recommended to us. Finally made the trek to Cotham Hill on a sunny Sunday afternoon to get our mitts on their gelato. We’ll be going back very soon!
