For many years G-PIPY the Scottish Piper, which is one of the biggest special shapes in the world, has been in the control of the Balloon museum and has only made very rare outings. The last time it was seen in Bristol was back in 2018 at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, when we were able to inflate PIPY for the public and the owners Muir Moffat and family.
To rectify this and in line with the families wishes, we have now brought PIPY back to Bristol, where we are hoping we can ensure opportunities for the Bristol public to see him inflated. Due to PIPY’s condition he will not be able to be free flown.
As the new custodians of PIPY, We will work with the Moffat family and talk to the Fiesta to see if it will be possible to bring him to this years fiesta.
Ian of Flying Enterprises has had the privilege of flying PIPY many times in the UK and Europe and is looking forward to inflating him again.
PIPY, seen below, is around 150ft tall and was built here in Bristol at the Cameron factory and has been a people’s favourite for over 25 years.
Watch this spot to find out more, when we have fully inspected the balloon.
