Dear Customers and Friends

After 4 years of hard work cooking delicious fudge, we have made the very difficult decision to close Wychbold Fudge.

We have met some lovely people along the way. Our kids have learnt to cook, run a business, and something of the meaning of hard work. Which is really what we set out to do.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your patronage, help, support, and most of all custom.

It has been an absolute joy, but as our family is growing up, it's time to move on.

This adult female grey seal is well known both locally and to ourselves. And at this time she is heavily pregnant. Due to years of learnt behaviour she does hang around anglers waiting to catch fish or be fed, which isn't good for her and often leads to her having angling hooks caught in her face and body. These will come out without intervention. We cannot, as Marine Mammal Medics approach seals post pupping age unless their life is at risk, but we struggle to continuously observe or be told of scenarios that could be prevented. Today we encountered a group of 'anglers' who felt the fish had their name on it and that the seal deserved not only to have rocks thrown at it, but that next year, when they next come back that they wished far worse on any seal. I remained calm... the seal remained calm and we then met and spoke to lovely genuine people who restored our faith in humans.

We cannot educate everyone. And we do know many very respectful anglers, who do get frustrated by loitering seals, but respect them, and enjoy the beautiful scenery whilst the seals move on. And we do talk to those who didn't know better, and we respect that differences of opinion occur...But we try to educate them and we will always protect our precious seals. Its what we do. Thank you to all who made us aware of this incident today.

Last night the sea was like a sheet of glass, not a ripple. This the lighthouse on top of Berry Head, Brixham, the UK's highest but shortest, beaming out to sea, with some fishermans lights in the quarry beneath. 🙂

Brixhams fishermen's cottages on the the hillside, with a beautiful crescent Moon and Venus on the right.
The sky was so clear you could easily see the rest of the Moon in the earths shadow and the small crescent brightly lit, gorgeous. :)
