Over the last two years, during the course of the pandemic, more and more people, both residents of Broadway and visitors, have taken to the pathways to enjoy the beautiful scenery and, at the same time, have gained the health benefits of regular exercise.
This is obviously good news for the nation’s health and Broadway is delighted to have more visitors who experience, perhaps for the first time, the beauty of this village and the Cotswolds, but there is a downside. The increased activity results in additional wear and tear on our local pathways and for this reason, the committee of the Tourist Information Centre has decided to make a donation of £1,000 to the Cotswold Way Association. Commenting on the donation, John Bartram, Chairman of the Cotswold Way Association said “this valuable donation is to be used for improvements to the pathways of the Cotswold Way in the area, in particular the stretch of path between Broadway and the Tower which gets so much footfall”.
By supporting the Cotswold Way Association, and the work they do in partnership with the Cotswold Voluntary Wardens and their parent organisation the Cotswold National Landscape, we are helping to look after one of the greatest assets of the Cotswolds and one of the most popular long distance routes in the UK. The Cotswold Way offers a huge variety of walking and exploring experiences. From spectacular views, to woodland glades and ancient trees and monuments, to quintessentially ‘Cotswold’ towns and villages, the 102 miles of Cotswold Way is a unique and treasured part of this landscape.
