This week 8 years ago, while the builders were building the extension, I was on the scaffolding painting the fascia boards and Jeff was on the roof trying to lasso the TV aerial around the chimney. I don't think either of us will be doing that again! :-)

My sister Carole was recently explaining to me about the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) and the therapeutic effects that spending time amongst trees and nature can have on your mind and well being. What a perfect place the New Forest is for trying this out. If you want to find out more the Forestry Commission have a few tips on their website https://www.forestryengland.uk/blog/forest-bathing
If you can't get to a forest or wood you can still have a go in a park or a garden.

A sunny Sunday afternoon so we took the opportunity for a short walk around Normandy Lagoon, Lymington. Named the Godwit Loop on the attached map. Lovely views out to sea and over to the Isle of Wight. We parked at Stanley Road, walked down King Saltern Road and then just after Nick Cox Chandlery we turned down a track on the left to join the walk. The walk is just under 2 miles but could be longer depending on where you park. It can also be extended another 6 miles or so by continuing on to do a loop of Keyhaven as shown on the map.

Had a little bit of time today and wanted to go in search of Bluebells so headed to Pondhead Inclosure just outside Lyndhurst. A pretty wood at any time of year not just when the bluebells are out. It has a 1 mile, marked, circular path. If you go watch out for the dragon! It is around 5 miles from Hathersage Cottage. Closest parking is at Park Pyle. If you want to make it more of a walk you could park at the car park near Bolton's Bench. For more information visit pondheadconservation.org.uk The last 2 pictures are of Lyndhurst landmarks Bolton's Bench and the war memorial.

One of our favourite circular walks! Starting at the beach cafe at Milford on Sea (approx 9 miles from Hathersage Cottage), walk out along Hurst Spit past Sturt Pond and the 2 little bridges (popular crabbing spots), towards Hurst Castle. Catch the ferry from just opposite the castle to Keyhaven and then walk back along tracks and lanes to Milford on Sea (possible Blackberry picking on the way depending on the time of year). Check the ferries are running or this will become an out and back walk along the Spit! Could also visit Hurst Castle on the walk. For details of ferries and the castle visit www.hurstcastle.co.uk
