Today marks a momentous day for Arran, with its state-of-the-art design and enhanced facilities, MV Glen Sannox is not just a means of transport for the local community but a gateway to our beautiful Island that will bring a significant boost to the Island tourism & economy!

So, whether you’re keen to discover the beauty of Arran for the first time, or a regular visitor planning your next staycation, here’s our quick guide to the ferry timetable:

𝘽 𝙍 𝙊 𝘿 𝙄 𝘾 𝙆 (to/from)

📅 13 JAN – 27 MAR (❄️ Winter)
▪️TROON will be the ONLY port of departure from Ayrshire to Brodick during this period
▪️Both ferries, MV GLEN SANNOX and MV ALFRED, will complete 3 return trips each most days
💡𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙮 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙩 – Catering & refreshment facilities are available on MV Glen Sannox, but there are none on MV Alfred so come prepared

📅 28 MAR – 19 OCT (🌞 Summer)
▪️There are TWO ports of departure from Ayrshire to Brodick – you have the choice of TROON or ARDROSSAN
▪️From Troon - MV GLEN SANNOX will complete 3 return sailings daily
▪️From Ardrossan – MV CALEDONIAN ISLES will complete 5 return sailings daily

🚗 If you are planning to bring a vehicle to the Island, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible!
💡𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙮 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙩 - If one departure port shows no availability, ALWAYS make sure to check the alternative port (in a new search)

🚶Foot passenger availability is usually readily available but can be pre-booked to offer peace of mind
💡𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙮 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙩 – if you leave your car in a secure carpark at one port on the mainland, it will be easier if you choose to return to the same port!

𝙇 𝙊 𝘾 𝙃 𝙍 𝘼 𝙉 𝙕 𝘼 (to/from)

📅 13 JAN – 27 MAR (❄️ Winter)
▪️MV CATRIONA operates between two ports, Claonaig and Tarbert (Loch Fyne), completing 4 return trips to Lochranza most days


📅 28 MAR – 19 OCT (🌞 Summer)
▪️MV CATRIONA operates to Claonaig only during the Summer, completing 9 (yes NINE!) return trips most days

🚗 If you are planning to bring a vehicle to the Island, we recommend booking this roll-on/roll-off ferry service!
💡𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙮 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙩 – this is a ‘Turn Up & Go’ service. If you make a booking, you are required to choose a preferred departure date, BUT your ticket is valid for any date and sailing within the selected timetable period – summer or winter!

Not gonna lie, it was so cold my ears hurt when they finally thawed out! But what a beautiful view across the Firth of Clyde this afternoon, looking at the Isle of Arran from Ayr.
