Covid–19 Safety Statement for Viewbank Guest House
Due to the Covid-19 virus, we have put some measures in place to reduce
the risks to both our guests and ourselves at Viewbank Guest House. We sincerely hope that these measures won’t impact on guests’ enjoyment, but until advised otherwise and to keep everyone safe, we will need to adopt
them.
This statement will be updated as per current government advice and guidelines.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
-----------------------------------------------------
Booking
• At the time of booking we will ask you to inform us of your expected arrival time at Viewbank. This is important as we must avoid multiple arrivals at the same time, e.g. if arriving off the same ferry. In the event of having a similar arrival time, we will issue you with a convenient and mutually acceptable alternative timeslot.
• As we will not be conducting a face to face registration process on your arrival we may ask you for additional information (address etc.) at the time of booking in order to comply with our legal requirements.
• In the interests of the safety of our guests and us we will not be accepting ANY ‘off-street’ walk-in bookings during this time.
Checking in and out at Viewbank Guest House
• On arrival we will welcome you at the front door maintaining the current self-distancing guidelines.
• In the event of parties arriving simultaneously, we will respectfully ask one to remain in their vehicles or outside until the other has checked in.
• Hand sanitiser will be available in the foyer, and we would request that you use this on entering for the first time and on all other occasions when returning.
• Your pre-sanitised room key will be left in your door, and we will direct you to your room, giving you all the essential information required to enjoy your stay with us.
• When checking out – please leave your room key in your room door.
Payment
• We intend to keep any contact with you during your stay to a minimum, for the safety of everyone. Therefore, we anticipate that all outstanding payments will be processed prior to check-out, thereby avoiding any need to make physical card payments. However, should there be a need to make a card payment, we will avoid touching your card, and ask that you insert and remove it into/from the card machine yourself. We shall sanitise the keypad of the card machine during and on completion of the transaction.
General Sanitising and Handwashing
• Each bedroom will have its own bottle of hand sanitiser for your use. In addition, there will also be dispensers located at the top of the stairs on the landing, the entrance hall, dining room and lounge. We would respectfully ask that you use this when entering and leaving your bedroom each time, and on each occasion when you enter and leave the premises.
• In addition we will be sanitising all communal areas, touch points (door handle/light switches etc.) throughout the day.
Breakfasts
• The dining room has been re-configured with 3 tables only for a maximum capacity of 5 people to maintain social distancing, (2 x tables of two and 1 x table of one). We have extended the dining area into the lounge, with a further 2 tables (1 x table of 2 and 1 x table of one) to comply with safe self-distancing at all times.
• Unfortunately at this time we are unable to provide our usual range of breakfast selections for our guests, but we have adapted our menu, and will be offering cooked Scottish breakfast choices or a Continental style breakfast using a pre-order form to be completed the night before. Please make your selections on the forms with your preferred time and leave in the wall holder located in the hallway before 9pm.
• We have also invested in ‘TV Dinner tables’ that you will find in your wardrobe, should you wish to have a Continental breakfast* in your own room. We will deliver your pre-ordered breakfast tray to your room at your nominated time, knocking on your door to notify you of arrival.
• Before leaving for the day please leave the tray outside your room unless you are checking out that day in which case you may leave the tray in your room.
* For in room breakfasts only Continental breakfasts are provided.
Evening meals
• We do not provide evening meals at Viewbank, however (current guidance permitting), local restaurants will be fully open albeit with reduced capacity. It is therefore essential that you make a reservation beforehand to avoid disappointment. Many restaurants are also offering a take-away service, and you will find telephone numbers and menus in your information folder.
• The dining room/lounge area will be available for guests if you would like to eat a takeaway meal in the evening please let us know and we will reserve a time for you.
There will be plates, cutlery and glasses etc. for you to use, and we will reserve the same table as allocated for breakfast to avoid cross contamination. Please dispose of any wrappings in the bags provided.
Housekeeping/Room Servicing
• Every room will be thoroughly cleaned and all surfaces/items sanitised before guests arrive. Glasses, crockery etc. in the rooms are washed regardless of whether they have been used or not.
• Fresh masks, gloves and aprons will be worn by us when cleaning each room.
• For guests staying more than one night, your room will not be
refreshed during your stay. This is to reduce the risk of any Covid-19 cross contamination.
• If you should need anything replacing such as towels, water or milk bottles etc. please leave them outside your room in the bags provided after breakfast, and they will be replaced with fresh items.
• On your day of departure, please put all towels (whether used or not) into the bags provided and leave in your room.

Again, thank you for your help and understanding while we all try to return to normality in the safest way possible. We do hope you enjoy your stay at Viewbank, and perhaps return again when things get back to normal.
