Oh look! Six wee pea chicks at the wrong end of the season! Actually they stand quite a good chance of survival since their mother has once again teamed up with her sister to protect them. Girl power?

We’ve been at it again, trying to use up some of the scores of apples we still have left. This time it’s in the form of Minted Apple Chutney, which happily uses up the apple mint currently going bonkers in the potager. We have loads, so don’t be shy about asking for a jar if you’re staying with us anytime soon!

For today’s What shall we do with all these apples’ post. Apple and Kale Soup, made with our home grown kale and, of course, THOSE apples. Jason has only just discovered kale and it’s currently His Favourite Thing. As you can see, he’s not too impressed with the soupy version!

The first of the season’s blackberries in a Wild Bramble Cobbler with home made Lemon Curd Ice Cream and a glass of Blackberrry Gin. All three are easy-peasy to make and if you start the gin here in one of our cottages, you can sit and remember your stay on Arran as you sip it at Christmas.

It’s hard work making sure our cottages are not only as spotlessly clean as always but also as safe as possible during these trying times, so after a very busy weekend, we feel justified in sampling a strawberry gin fizz, made with Antony’s home made strawberry gin and the same Prosecco that welcomes guests to Kilmichael.
