It's only right we kick off WTM with our traditional Champagne Afternoon Tea and the fantastic and amazingly supportive Travel Trade, Airline and Travel Writer partners that we are so fortunate to work with.

A great team effort from the whole team at Deep South USA. This is now a much anticipated annual event and it was great to have our partners in attendance from Visit New Orleans and Louisiana’s River Parishes, plus we were entertained by Mississippi MacDonald - award winning UK blues artist!

Just the start (and our first event!) of a busy week at World Travel Market - WTM London. We're looking forward to catching up with everyone!

Brand USA Week is done and dusted, a fantastic show and incredibly well attended by Tour Operators, Journalists and Creators from across Europe.

The show was a buzz with conversations of positivity and growth as the US market continues its resurgence in bookings & consumer interest.

Yesterday we were honoured to attend the inaugural JRNY America Awards which celebrated the best of American tourism, acknowledging and recognising the top destinations and experiences that make the US a standout travel destination. Held at the National Liberal Club in London, we were incredibly grateful that several of our clients walked away with trophies! Congratulations to Visit San Antonio, Visit New Orleans Visit Tucson & Visit Mesa and great to see Maverick Helicopters Tennessee Vacation & Meet Boston on the short list too.

These awards also marked the launch of the quarterly JRNY America magazine, which we're very excited about 🙌 JRNY Magazine

An incredibly busy but fun filled, educational and interesting couple of days in the Crescent City - New Orleans ⚜️

Early on there was a visit to the brand new Storyville Museum telling the story of the city’s less salubrious past.

Then treated to more delicious tasty treats than you could imagine - a fantastic walking culinary tour with Laurent from Destination Kitchen Tours, meals at Palace Cafe, Mr B’s Bistro, Compere Lapin, Mothers and delicious tour de force for breakfast at the Sheraton. The group also split with some visiting Mardi Gras World and others at the National World War 2 Museum - two gems of the New Orleans scene!

Live music a plenty with visits to Fritzel’s Jazz Pub, The Spotted Cat and a visit to Lafitte’s for compulsory Purple Drank frozen cocktails.

Thank you to our hosts at the Sheraton New Orleans, such a great location on the edge of the French Quarter.

We’re not talking about the Saints game after that result and ‘performance’ 😂 but the hospitality was of course top notch and we saw Drew Brees being added to the Hall Of Fame.

Thanks to the entire team at Visit New Orleans for such a great itinerary.

Meet Boston will be bringing a delegation of die-hard Patriots fans to cheer on the team at Wembley on 20th October. Helping the volume levels will be a group of leading travel writers and travel industry friends....get those singing voices ready!!

Sara and Jess attended the Virgin Atlantic Holidays Destination Day in Crawley yesterday.

What a fantastic turnout from the in-house sales staff and members of the retail store teams from across the UK. A busy and productive day, that saw in depth training passed on throughout generously timed sessions from first thing in the morning until the end of day.

A great day finished off with a quiz to test the agents on the knowledge they gained from their sessions....and they passed with flying colours! 🙌

And on they roll, moving their way east through the state towards The Northshore and arriving at the Global Wildlife Centre - a free roaming wildlife reserve where they got up close (and slobbery 😋) with Giraffes, Mike Byson, Deer, Rhea Birds, Kangaroos, Zebra and so much more.

Sustenance was found in the form of Liz’s Where Y’at Diner - colour and eclectic scenery with delicious food and fantastic service 👌

A short hop to Mandeville to pick up their bike guide from Trikes & Beyond, to tour the shore line of Lake Pontchartrain visiting the Candy Bank and Dew Drop Social...what a great way to explore!

They finished off a busy day with a fun and Cajun humour filled swamp tour on the Honey Island Swamp with Cajun Encounters seeing gators and trash pandas aka Racoons a plenty.

All rounded off with a delicious dinner at Dakota 😍 full bellies & ready for bed!

A nice leisurely day of exploration in St Francisville with a walk through Hemingbough Gardens and a tour of Audobon State Historic Site accompanied by some fury friends, this was followed by a walking tour through downtown seeing all the new boutique shops and local restaurants and eateries that are bringing downtown St Francisville to life and on to the museum and on to The Oyster Bar.

The day finished up at The Myrtles, famous eternal home to Chloe - cue lots of ghost chat and tales of the homes past. Delicious food served up once more at 1796 the in house restaurant.

Time for our merry band to head to their next destination, with the group touring Houmas House and Gardens - with huge thanks to Kevin Kelly and Leslie Brewer for a fantastic stay and delicious dinner.

We were shown around the Great River Road Museum by Kevin and assisted by Maggie and Dixie who shared stories of the history of the region along the and the importance of this area in forming Louisiana and indeed the entire USA.

The lovely warm temperatures in San Antonio during Autumn...

🍁 San Antonio’s Fall Season is Here! 🍁 (That’s Autumn if you’re tuning in from the UK! 🎃😉) And while it’s a chilly 12°C in the UK, it’s a balmy 26°C here in San Antonio. ☀️

Fall is a beautiful time to visit – cooler than the heat of summer, but still warm enough to enjoy the sunshine. 👌

We’re embracing the autumnal vibes with plenty of outdoor activities, all while gearing up for the biggest Day of the Dead celebrations in the USA later this month. 💀🎉

The Louisiana FAM is off to a great start, and the group enjoyed a must do breakfast essential when in Lafayette - the Saturday mornings in Breaux Bridge can only mean Buck & Johnnys Zydeco Brunch 😋 including some questionable moves from Neil and Patrick 🕺 before heading off to Lake Martin.

After breakfast it was time for Champagnes Swamp Tour with Captain Jimmy, this is a really knowledgeable and informative tour of this amazing window into Louisianas Natural side. The first gator was spotted within the first minute and they just kept coming from there! We also saw many species of birds and turtles that make this diverse ecosystem home.

The group then took on learning the culture and history of the Cajun people and the native people of Louisiana at Vermillionville with a gumbo on National Gumbo Day....so delicious & wholesome 😋 happy Neil’s also got his first cat spotting of the trip.

As the day cooled off the group joined the VIP experience at the 50th Anniversary of the Festival Acadian et Creole. Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is a free, three-day festival in Lafayette, Louisiana that celebrates Cajun and Creole culture, music, food, and crafts.

Loved a great conversation with Jourdan Thibodeaux, renowned Cajun musician, about his efforts to keep Cajun culture and language alive 🤗

The final stop on the Taste of Louisiana media tour was the Big Easy, New Orleans ⚜️

The group started at a fried chicken festival, followed by a hands-on creole cooking class at the Mardi Gras School of Cooking.

After a brief rest and beignets from Café Du Monde the group were treated to a decadent Jazz Brunch at the famous Commander's Palace, followed by a tour of the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, before finally eating their hearts (and stomachs) out on a Beyond the French Quarter Food Tour.

All washed down with Hurricane's at Peychaud's, and some dancing best not described 😆

An amazing week in Louisiana, thank you to the Explore Louisiana team for an amazing itinerary and to the group for leaving with bellies full and stories to last long in the memory.

As they say in Louisiana: "laissez bon temps rouler"!

The Louisiana Media tour continued through Lafayette, where the group got to taste all of Tabasco (where the Scorpion was too hot for some 🤯), Po'boys at Old Tyme Grocery, brilliant live music down at Rhythms on the River, a step back in time and a Cajun cooking demo at Vermilionville, then finally a whistle stop visit to the tallest Capitol building in Baton Rouge.

Oh, and did someone need some Mac and Cheese?! Thanks to Leiton Leblanc and Marie Stagg for their hospitality and goodies!

All that awaits now is the Big Easy ⚜️

David and the team had a great start to their Taste of Louisiana food tour. The group headed to Shreveport's historic Municipal Auditorium, home to the Louisiana Hayride where Elvis "left the building", followed by some epic food, drink and fun courtesy of Chef Niema at Abby Singer's Bistro and the guys with Beauxjack's Crafthouse, including some excellent axe throwing skills from the gang 🪓
