We have been working hard behind the scenes, integrating a new and higher spec booking and pricing system onto our website. It is with this in mind that we wanted to apologize if you noticed some hinky prices on our website.

Our IT mastermind believes he has fixed this now, so all should be good and back to normal. But please bear with as we slowly set the system up.

If you have a booking with us and an outstanding balance, your future emails will come from the new system. Please check spam folders, but if you are unsure, please get in touch, and I will be happy to help just drop me a message or ring up the site 😊

A true gem of Cornwall, the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic tucked into the cliffs of Boscastle Harbour is an absolute must-visit for anyone with interest in the magical practices of both modern and ancient Britain.

With an impressive collection of photographs, paintings, artefacts, books and so much more, the Museum of Witchcraft & Magic at Boscastle harbour does more than just educate & entertain its guests. It represents both modern and archaic practices “respectfully, accurately and impartially.” There are few words to describe the unique nature of this place, it's one you have to see to understand - and one we look forward to sending our guests to explore again when it reopens in the Spring.

This rendition of Cecil Williamson's childhood passion for folklore & superstition was opened in Boscastle in 1960, and has undergone significant changes and expansions in the six decades since passed. During the Boscastle flooding of August 2004, the current owner of the museum was praised for being the first to raise the alarm and responsible for the safety and protecting the homes & businesses of local residents, and took the catastrophic damage as an opportunity to expand the museum into the impressive venue we enjoy today.

Those who only visit Cornwall & Devon in the Summertime are missing out on the tense drama that unfolds between the stormy North Atlantic and the defiant seaside. You have to visit in the winter if you want to witness tempestuous waves & turbulent winds carving out the Westcountry.

The last two weeks of December mark the Festival of Winter Walks, an event founded by the Ramblers Association walking charity. Amongst their initiatives in championing public access to areas of natural beauty and encouraging walking as an enjoyable hobby promoting mental and physical health, they also encourage people across the UK to see the value in their surroundings and landscape throughout the year by donning their cap, coats and boots and braving the walks they might have otherwise put off.

So whilst many look forward to Spring and the approach of longer nights & warmer days that a new year promises to bring, we would like to take a moment to appreciate the colder and windier days, often less-cherished, but nevertheless instrumental to the full experience of being near the coast.

We are putting together a list of our favourite winter walks near Treworgie Barton that you can visit if you choose to stay with us out of season, and we are keen to hear your suggestions!

Remember, Treworgie is open all year round and offers cosy and rustic accommodation that is perfect for coming home to a little windswept, and it's never too early to book your next wintery adventure.

Few places capture so much of North Cornwall’s essence in such a short, adventurous path as the Rocky Valley walk connecting Tintagel to Boscastle. It follows the last part of the Trevillet River’s journey into the sea and encounters the ruins of Trevillet Mill, St Nectan’s Kieve (or tub), and ancient carvings that were put to rock in the Bronze Age (as seen in the image above, taken by Rob Farrow).

The woodland here offers unique conditions for various flora & fauna species that call it home. The hillside provides a gradient in its humidity as well as its slope; with North Atlantic winds and tides carving the lowest reaches into rugged outcrops and grasslands rich in wildflowers, whilst the thick canopy of trees further up the bank maintains a near-tropical humidity for mosses and insects rarely seen in the UK to thrive in.

Just one of the fabulous places you can visit for free when you stay with us!

Characterised by the rolling peaks and troughs of its slate roof and timelessly quaint gardens, the Old Post Office in Tintagel sits defiantly unchanged among more contemporary shops & restaurants on the main street.

This medieval farmhouse has seen plenty of updates and restoration over the last six centuries, its previous significant role being that of a Victorian post office. Now maintained under the careful hands of the National Trust, it is decorated throughout in homage to how it would have looked in the 19th Century. It also acts as a site of community gathering amongst both tourists and locals, with secondhand books and seasonal plants for sale.

The village of Tintagel is famous for its quirky businesses and interesting points of curiosity and is located less than ten miles from Treworgie. This site reopens in March following some out-of-season building maintenance, and whilst there are some steep steps and narrow doorways, much of the first floor and gardens are accessible by a portable wheelchair ramp provided by the National Trust.

Considered by some to be one of the most significant ancient sites in Cornwall, St Nectans Glen is a tranquil haven of local wildlife, plantlife & human culture that can be found not far from us - close to a village called Trevethy.

Historically characterised by a wonderfully unique waterfall that has attracted pilgrimages of spiritualist visitors for decades & the lonely hermitage above it, today the Glen is also home to more contemporary facilities and modern points of interest. Accessible by a somewhat rocky walk up the hillside, there is a large cafe, as well as several shorter walks and a space for meditation, prayer & reflection.

The conservation & maintenance team has made great efforts to preserve the site, which has been dedicated as both an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the rare plant life it is home to. Adam’s Wood is one example of such a development, where hundreds of sapling native trees have been planted and nurtured to help preserve local forests.

This stunning image of the waterfall at St Nectan's Glen was taken by Robert Pittman and shared on Flickr, no changes have been made.

A few miles from our front gate you will find Crackington Haven Beach, named for the arrestingly powerful cliffs that guard her on either side from the worst that the North Atlantic storms can offer. Standing 400 ft high on either side, these grass-covered giants make for a uniquely picturesque landscape that is unlike anything you will see elsewhere on the coast.

The drive down the hill can feel a little strange to some at first, but the shingle-covered sandy beach - that is comparatively well sheltered from the wind to most Cornish beaches - makes it more than worthwhile whatever time of the year you may be visiting.

Twice a year our friends across the pond take an entire day to celebrate the many wonderful mixed-breed dogs that brighten our days with their unique features and quirky characteristics. This year, we would love to do the same.

So in celebration of all the well-thought-out or sometimes-somewhat-surprising crosses out there, we’d like to ask to see your marvellous mix-ups! Post a picture of your dogs and a little bit about them in the comments so we can all take a moment to appreciate your canine creations and bring a smile to everyone’s day. We may even feature the cutest, rarest & most unique pups in our blogs & newsletters.

We at Treworgie-Barton absolutely love to meet your pets, whatever shapes and sizes they may come in! We will happily welcome most fur-babies to all but one of our cottages - including well-trained cats, bunnies & birds!

We had an amazing time at The Cornwall Tourism Awards on Thursday night, such a lovely opportunity for all four of us to get out and celebrate our achievements alongside other businesses. We can announce that the Silver award for Best New Tourism Business is now proudly decorating our mantle!

We are humbled to have been recognised for what we have achieved in such a short space of time, amongst the many we have to thank are Saffron Academy Limited and Tourism Awards - South West for sponsoring & organising the award and the stunning Truro Cathedral for being the perfect setting to such a fantastic evening.

A special congratulations to The Coconut Chy who shared Silver with us, and The Barn at Pengelly for taking home the Gold. It was an honour to be considered alongside you both.
