Understanding the BASI levels ‘Level 4’
Is the final and highest standard in the 4-tier Alpine pathway with BASI, the association prides itself and works hard to maintain the highest standard of skiing and teaching, thus providing you with incredible career pathways and respect in the professional field of ski instruction.
The level 4 ISTD is currently made up of the following 8 modules:-
* 200 Hrs Teaching Experience
* Ski Level 4 Teaching

Understanding the BASI levels ‘Level 3’
The BASI level 3 ISIA standard is often seen as the bridge between a part-time and full-time career choice, with multiple aspects to complete and a high skiing and teaching standard to achieve. This makes you much more attractive to potential employers around the world.
The level 3 ISIA is currently made up of the following 7 modules:-

* BASI Coaching Course
* Second Discipline (Level 1)

SWP offers a 1-6 week PRO technical and teacher training program to help prepare you for the exams at this stage.

Understanding the BASI levels ‘Level 2’
This is an 8-day on-mountain training and assessment course in which Technical and Teaching skills are developed and assessed. Successful students will be able to ski to a competent level and have the knowledge, ability and understanding to safely teach alpine skiing up to and including parallel standards on marked pistes. The course will involve the following content:-
* Central Theme, Piste Performance, Bumps, Steeps, Variable snow and Freestyle
* Technical understanding of the Central Theme and beyond
* Performance analysis of the Central Theme and beyond
* Communication skills
* Developing performance
* Match teaching to customer needs
* Teaching principles
* TIED and the use of teaching tools
* Lesson flow and content
* Climate setting
* Reviewing skills
The level 2 qualification is also fully included in all SWP 8 & and 5 week programs.
The BASI level 2 will allow you to teach skiing in Canada, Japan, USA, China, New Zealand, and South America. + Europe (if you have an EU passport).

Understanding the BASI levels ‘Level 1’
BASI the ‘British Association of Snowsports Instructors is recognised worldwide for its high standards, quality of qualifications and the highly admired technical and teaching abilities of its instructors.
With that, let us introduce you to each of the 4 Alpine Ski levels.
Level 1: -
Is an entry-level course for students who wish to join the BASI Education System. It is a 4-day training and assessment course, with online learning prerequisites.
Additional modules for the level 1 completion are:-
* Child Protection in Sport & Leisure
* 35 hours of Snowsports School Experience
* First-Aid Course (2 days)
This qualification and the additional modules are fully incorporated into the SWP 8-week program.
Level 1 will allow you to teach skiing in the U.K. drylopes and Snowdomes.

‘BASI level 3 Scholarship’
One of the key elements of our 8wk courses is our level 3 scholarship. This is awarded to the candidate whose ski level, drive & commitment shows the potential to move on to the BASI Lv3 ISIA standard.

Katie is the glue that holds it all together!
Having completed and passed our BASI levels 1 & 2 course in 2021, she clearly understands the workings of all our ski instructor programs.
She is on hand as our female mentor, C.V help, job application assistance, off-snow fitness sessions, social events, and much more. Call upon Katie for all your ‘off snow’ questions.
In the summer months Katie works as a fully qualified International Mountain Leader (I.M.L) safely leading clients on stunning journeys in the mountains, outside her work hours she competes in multiple Bike-packing races travelling all over the world on her trusty 3T.

Sam is a BASI level 4 and BASI examiner. He is the newest member of the SWP team. Sam started his career early as one of the youngest to complete his BASI level 4 at just 20 years old. Sam has unprecedented amounts of passion and experience to sharpen your skiing skills for all 4 BASI skiing levels. Sam is also SWP’s head freestyle coach, he will be able to help you with all the required freestyle elements needed for your BASI exams, often giving you your feedback whilst skiing switch in front of you! His abilities are as razor sharp as his skis! When he's not skiing, he's busy building his house in the French Alps, riding motorbikes (or anything with two wheels) and taking his son Rémy on alpine adventures. Dave holds the highest BASI ski instructor Qualification (level 4 ISTD) and has over 30+ seasons of experience working all over the world with skiers of all levels, his knowledge of all things skiing is unquestionable. If you get trained by Dave not only are you on the road to success, you’ll have a good time getting there too. Dave’s fun relaxed approach makes for the best learning environment for all your teaching and technical training needs, but don’t relax he’s still gonna kick your ass in the bumps! We don’t call him ’Silky Dave’ for nothing!
In summer Dave lives in the U.K with his lovely lady Jackie and spends his free time Paragliding and Mountain biking, you can take him out of the mountains, but you can’t take away his love for them. Come skiing this Autumn with ‘Silky Dave’ and the SWP team for a fantastic 8-week ski experience.

Lee Townend is a BASI level 4 instructor and BASI Examiner with 25 winter seasons as an instructor under his belt and 12 years as the Snoworks PRO director. Lee commits 110% to the students in their on and off-snow training and facilitation. His passion and enthusiasm towards providing the highest quality training, enjoyment and student success are clear from the feedback, testimonials and results achieved. Off the snow Lee loves nothing more than a big day on the bike, road, mountain, or gravel, as long as it involves going uphill, and preferably as part of a Sportive or Bike-packing race or adventure .
