With no League of Friends collecting Sunday. Karl and I with the help of Michael, Cynthia and Di somehow managed to raise £388.95
A respectable amount considering so THANK YOU.
Sandra and I know it could have been so much more.
Collecting myself we can see the ajustments needed.
Sandra never walks around the sale unless a problem, Karl and I had little chance Sunday by collecting. To be honest I have no idea who is there now Karl takes the pitch fees and I’ve no idea what is being sold. Only what I see carryed out. Bob and Amanda have little chance either as parking the sellers big time, One volunteer down due to breakdown on the way.
But we coped with the rest of Team Pendeen to bring you those that go around to every stall one of the largest sales in the West Country. 🙂

Hi, we just want to thank everyone that came along and saw us yesterday at Pendeen Boot sale. We raised a brilliant £347.72, thank you to all those that donated toys and items for us to sell. I will be posting a few bits for sale this week, we are so near our total and cannot thank you all enough. If we go over our fundraising amount then the rest will go to buying bereavement bears and packs for Children who are struggling with the loss of a loved one.
Also massive thank you to Jems vintage rallies for their donation on top of the amount raised and Pendeen for having us.

5am no rain It is now 7.30pm no rain all day AT PENDEEN
BBC WEATHER FORECAST online ??????
Met office dry all day.
The site was immaculate green grass.
Thinking we will never get 200 sellers with the BBC forecast but we did 253 to be precise.
Many regulars still put off with the BBC FORECAST.
23 degrees warm slight breeze cloud and sunshine. We pulled off another bumper sale.
Loose small change from sellers none THANK YOU.
No one from the League of friends collecting today so Karl and myself done what we could shame as the car parks were pretty full today.
Some upset with sellers being rude to the volunteers lower end of the site. So sorry Bob and Amanda you have this looks like we may be banning a few more if this is repeated.
You do not choose where you are able to sell you follow the lines just as up the top area.
Your choice to get out of bed earlier. First seller arrives at 7am to queue has to wait till 9.30am before entry.
Sandra and I also had rudeness towards us But we are the ones that commit to Pendeen.
We know how to run the sales It is our way no one else’s Whatever we ask anyone to do it is for the best even if you argue or moan. To be fair this is such a minority but its upsetting when we come home and discuss just as folk talk about us behind our backs. So next Sunday weather permitting lets see if we can have a sale where Sandra and I come home upbeat with how it has gone.
Not many more now Sandra nearly there.xx

Hello! I was wondering if you could help me! We bought a Nintendo Wii bundle in a box (console, cd games, nunchucks, Wii board, remote covers, charging station for remotes etc) for £40 from one of your sellers back at the end of May time. Anyway, we’ve only just got round to setting it up as life has been abit hectic for us recently and it has a parental pin on it that is stopping us from updating the console, changing wifi etc etc. I know it’s probably a long shot but I was hoping maybe the sellers in this group and comes forward to help with this? I’ve tried the usual generic codes like 0000 or 1234 but no luck 😩

This is a special request from now on can sellers Please not pay with loose change less than 50p.

Please do not remove bollards and save spaces for who ever, Use your own items.

Please do not put items on the ropes or against they are not for that.

All three requests would make it easier for me I'm getting older and its not just on the day all week I'm trying to keep Pendeen going. 🤔
There's our Bob always photogenic. 🙂

26/08/2024

Pendeen pulled off a bumper holiday weekend with yesterday being cold and windy and today warm with sunshine all afternoon. Both days sellers happy and presumably buyers happy with their purchases. Very happy how today has gone as a family we are strict knowing the reputation is so high here. Sandra, Karl and I will not tolerate anything happening that might upset us or the volunteers. Sounds like a fake £20 note was given to a seller today, All I can say is beware with just a few more Sundays to go. Forecast looking good and even warmer for next Sunday September 1st.
Today we ended up with 218 sellers brilliant turnout for a Bank Holiday Monday.
Possibly Sunday next we will go over that.
THANK YOU TEAM PENDEEN for the smooth running of both days.
To sellers, buyers and visitors THANK YOU for the support hope the majority enjoyed their time here such a social event for so many. 🙂

100% rain they said at 5.30am for today.
By 8.30am that had dropped to 40%
All we had was a light shower at 6.30am
and a few spits at 12.40pm before opening.
Wind yes and it got stronger as expected.
One lone seller in the queue from 7.00am for ages thinking to myself we’ll be lucky to get 50 sellers today.
But in the end 137 brave sellers came and what a sale it turned out to be.
Yes the afternoon stayed dry and the decision to actually go ahead this morning proved nothing but luck as I’m not sure what to say as many remarked it would rain.
Tomorrow Bank Holiday Monday expecting nearer the 200 mark 175 maybe.
The forecast is less windy, warmer and no rain and many sellers have held off until then.
Rain tonight dry tomorrow.
Same times as Sundays.
ENJOY and thank you for backing me today. 🙂
THANK YOU TEAM PENDEEN

20/08/2024

THANK YOU TO Mary, Christine, Annette, Di, Keith, Michael and Cynthia with John collecting near the end of sale to 3.45pm this past Sunday 18th August.
We have broken the record slightly and a amazing £556.46 donated in the buckets for the League Of Friends Of Stratton Hospital.
Bringing the total to date this season to £7,381.77
Many of you from 1pm donate on entry and then so many give any loose change on exit complimenting the sale.

With the Bank Holiday this weekend it would have been good to do both days but forecasts are conflicting so we wait and see as the weekend approaches to know what to do for the best.

Personally I appreciate your kindness in donating and again to those that come and make the sale the success it is by spending with the sellers.
Over the years I have ignored those that have said ‘Do this, Do that’
We have a very fair system for all sellers and plenty of area to set up, considering access for emergency vehicles if required.

If the weather allows PENDEEN AT ITS BEST. Chris x 🙂

18/08/2024

Wow an unbelieveable sale today making Pendeen the most organised and popular large Sunday car boot sale in Devon and Cornwall from what we are told.
Sellers and Buyers coming from all over the South West we seem to be gaining rather than declining. So many new sellers just as last week folk not having been before thrilled.
With all the visitors around being on the cloudy side, Happy sellers going home.
I have heard and learn’t a lot today.
Our success is giving some traders and buyers elsewhere that don’t come to us ammunition to have a go at us. The crap and total lies unbelieveable to see if Pendeen is not for you go to your favourite sale. But PLEASE let us raise money for our causes and not give detrimental comments against Pendeen. I see it all the time by a certain few but refuse to comment on that page and can only Thank those that do stick up for us. If your favourite sale raises as much money as we have we would like to hear about it.
Since starting nearly 30 years ago there has always been traders at the sales in this area.
Admittedly we have a few at Pendeen even now all sales do that can accommodate them.
Luckily at Pendeen we have never turned any sellers away only banned a few.
For us at Pendeen we have always had several retired folk that love carbooting love the social gathering. As organisers we have always appreciated their loyalty and rewarded them with a pitch in the same place if able. Perhaps its the reputation Pendeen has in looking after our sellers so they will come back again. The atmosphere on site today its so friendly most looking out for each other.
We have early buyers with us every week from Okehampton, Exeter. Sellers from Tavistock some came in the early stages 2001 prefering to be with us.
We have something special at Pendeen. We have a lovely bunch of volunteers who like me try to please to make your day as enjoyable as possible.
THANK YOU FOR SUCH SUPPORT TODAY AND HOPE YOU ALL HAD AN ENJOYABLE VISIT WITH US. 🙂

Some grovelling needed here by a seller that comes in early.😡
Due to absent mindness driving off when a doggie poo bin nearby.
Totally unacceptable!

BUT, BUT delighted to inform £488.63 donated in the buckets with John & Pat, Rob, Di, Michael and Cynthia. THANK YOU

As far as I’m aware being a larger sale with the balance of buyers / visitors still there.
Sellers can either have an extremely good day or not so good but that is not down to me.

There is money around to spend just as donating but if items aren’t what is wanted or to dear for a car boot sale items tend to go home again.
BUT all that matters is everyone enjoys this social event provided by my family for you.
Possibly we look to be on again hopefully Sunday August 18th weather could be onside? 🤔

Another large boot sale today 273 sellers with just ten leaving before 3.30pm
Think the point was proved that it was still busy around 3.15pm.
Four of the ten leaving were on the end of the rows not a problem.
If others anytime selling wish to leave earlier than 3.30pm when extremely busy just let us know on entry.
One couple left the bottom area of the field driving through the folk walking around when very busy this isn’t acceptable to us as organisers.
From 1pm to 3.30pm 2 and a half hours of selling to the main public this is how it should be and then folk would be more aware of sellers leaving.
Yes one gentleman seller made me aware he wasn’t feeling great when the tannoy announcement had been made allowances obviously can be made.
Telling me you had an appointment thats why you were leaving before not sure that I believe you.
It may be impossible to monitor, but for safety we need sellers onside with this.
When not so busy and the top area is not full an earlier time might be feasible its just down to numbers of buyers walking around.
If sellers have a problem with this you might like to try elsewhere.
Some boot sales pack you in and you can’t get out anyway. At Pendeen you have plenty of room to set up and we have always allowed for emergency vehicles to access from day one of organising nearly 30 years ago.
On the whole we think today went extremely well with the breeze wasn’t as hot as it could have been.
We were lucky to operate compared to yesterday when drizzle for most of the morning.
Whether next Sunday is okay not so sure but whatever happens keep Pendeen safe for all.
THANK YOU FOR SUCH SUPPORT TODAY AND TO ALL THOSE THAT HELP IN ANYWAY. 🙂

Another very large sale with 253 sellers and buyers of all ages in perfect weather.
Just need to emphasize the need for sellers vehicles to remain at their given pitch until times that it is safe to vacate the site.
Being the busy sale it was today 3.30pm would be the advisable time, no one came out the main entrance but there were complaints that sellers were leaving when the aisles were still busy with folk and vehicles leaving from the top going down and out the bottom exit. As organisers we cannot allow this with so many children on site.
If a seller needs to leave earlier tell us on entering we can accommodate you nearer the exit.
Remember the sale is advertised from 1pm – 4pm
We need the site to be safe for all those that are on site.
There were a couple of other issues one involving a combination lock and entering before the stated time. Why these local folk think they can do this is beyond me. But we will ban you in future if you cannot accept how Pendeen is run so sucessfully for so many years.
It was upsetting to hear a buyer, Early buyer? leave at say approx 1.20pm and be so rude to a seller arriving then that had travelled from Liskeard to be here and damage their vehicle with your aggressive manner.
Plenty of witnesses and your number plate has been noted. Looks like you are asking to be banned. We are unhappy the young family had to endure this. Possibly a police matter?
The Ladies Porto Loo was blocked with a disposable nappie for a short while until I sorted this.
No nappies, No dog poo bags No banana skins as these items block the pipework needed to cleanse these Porto Loos on a weeky basis. Can we just have some common sense instead of more signs.

The weather and Bude Metric Brass Band made today a resounding success.

As usual the volunteers try their utmost to please but again the odd few sellers play them up again behave or you will be sent packing. As a family we may be tough but if 99% can abide our decisions, 1% can be sent elsewhere, With a family from Oxfordshire visiting praising Pendeen up for how well run it is. The latest comment Best Car Boot Sale in the Country! From another source. 🤔

Make the most of the dry forecast for Sunday August 4th looks to be busy once again. Over 200 sellers possibly?
Enjoy your carbooting weekend. 🙂

With eleven notes the most ever added to all the coins in the donation buckets £462.72 raised on Sunday 28th July.
THANK YOU.
Thank You to Marina, Shirley, Rob, Di, Michael and Cynthia and to John for collecting with the buckets.

As organisers of the car boot over the years we have seen many a visitor coming and selling at our sales to help pay for their holiday. Just as we would have seen this past Sunday but a couples vehicle was broken into down the road so unfortunately were unable to attend to sell.

Sunday August 4th looking a bit more likely to be able to open than previously forecast.
We can only hope that Sunday remains dry and hopefully the donations will take the total raised so far over the £6,000 mark for The League Of Friends Of Stratton Hospital.

We welcome to Pendeen Bude Metric Brass Band for the afternoon once again.
