You have to smile! July Sunday 28th blue skies and sunshine in the forecast time to put the shorts back on? Have a good weekend! 🙂
Ropeing lines criminally vandalised, stakes chainsawed off. watertrough ball valve taking metered water left running. Three padlocks taken, chain. All the tipping lorry loads of tree waste left by the hedges. 50 odd rubbish bags. Signs kicked in. Mail box forced and taken. 😡 But the boot sale went ahead yesterday with £453.62 donated to Stratton Hospital League of Friends Thanks to Annette, Debbie, Di, Michael, Cynthia and great to see John for a short while. THANK you for appreciating the sale. We now look forward to Sunday July 7th weather permitting to continue. 🙂
Unfortunately from 12.30pm the mizzle came and stayed with us most of the afternoon. But strangely most of the 74 sellers had a very good day even though the forecasts were not easy to go by.
So were we right in opening seems we were. So with no cancellation we are looking to next Sunday to open once again. Even by checking the clouds up above ourselves was hoping for a better day and a larger turnout but got that wrong. 🤣
Weather permitting next sale Sunday July 9th bit iffy at present 🤔
With Ann, Dr.Hillenbrand, Ron & Mike standing / sitting for a couple of hours with the buckets awaiting any donations that might be given on entry from 1pm in them or the post boxes. Sunday 25th September £367.80 was raised a remarkable amount for this time of year. Total to date stands at £9,813.98. THANK YOU so much. I’m on edge now wondering if we can achieve a record amount as we are now so close to what was raised in 2019 but that’s down to the weather now.
The League of Friends of Stratton Hospital are so grateful.
It is by donation if desired from 1 pm if folk are willing to support such a worthy cause for us here at Stratton.
Pendeen has always been pretty unique and all we ask is that the Volunteers are respected and appreciated.
I have seen two long range forecasts for October wet to start with and then another dry spell, No idea if this is going to happen or how reliable it is.
We continue the sales to see if we can break the record.
Have now managed to upload Bude Metric Brass playing at the end of sale on August Bank Holiday Sunday. 😊😊
Let us entertain you Fathers Day Sunday June 17th Bude Metric Brass will be attending weather permitting.
Try again. From the farm in the valley, We wish everyone a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and send our Love for a HAPPY NEW YEAR and a great CAR BOOTING SEASON for 2018 at PENDEEN Chris Sandra & Family ###
Well this is another event down Cornwall today. And this is what I mean't by not having heavy vehicles today sensible decision and I can safely say Pendeen will open again next Sunday WP. What A mess those fields now will be for the foreseeable future. My tractor wasn't even needed at Pendeen today. The majority of the sellers took my advice and heeded my volunteer helpers. And the ground is still in tip top condition to carry on.
So a big THANK YOU to the sellers who were unable to come today as their vehicles were to big. THANK YOU to all the sellers that attended today 160 plus with out any of you needing any aid. THANK YOU to all the buyers and visitors who were all pretty sensible in parking in the main areas with only two cars needing a push and one a tow with the land rover with the three of you parking so close to the hedge in the disabled area of all places. Must admit the stress this morning wondering what might happen at 6.30am but to our advantage we didn't have the rain that was given with a yellow warning in the early hours and with the sunshine forecast for most of the day I had to try and go ahead which proved a worthy outcome and most enjoyable day for all concerned Bude may have been at war but Pendeen still had a tremendous amount of support giving enjoyment to thousands THANK YOU Chris
160 plus Sellers in attendance today.
One helluva boot sale today, Couple of incidents with cars and disappointed bouncy castle let me down other than that a stressful free day meeting some really nice people.
Just how popular we are from 1 of 3 entrances.
Fathers Day 18th June 2017 I believe.
Next Car Boot Sale Sunday July 23rd weather permitting. This video is last Sunday when weather does have such an impact on how many Sellers and Buyers actually attend. As today Thursday 20th was iffy again Pendeen got away with out anyone getting drenched, light drizzle on and off and then a dry afternoon with some Sellers actually doing well under the circumstances. Looking around myself was impressed with the items for sale there was bargains to be had. Yes the weather put some sellers off from attending today as it did the buyers. But the first Thursday was up and running. Two things of concern I don't like sellers packing up whilst there are several buyers around. A time limit will be set if I feel the system is being abused as it's unfair on the other sellers. Yes I will make exceptions when told on entry that you have a reason to leave early. But the excuse haven't sold anything is your problem and you will not if you don't give the buyers a chance to look around. Many of you take your time in packing up anyway as long as it stays dry so no rush. Secondly if the pitch fee has been paid on entry as normal its non refundable you have made a decision to enter and have a pitch. Whether you set up straight away or go off buying elsewhere that's your choice, But to come back and say you are leaving. Leaving a gap in the aisles which sometimes cannot be filled as what happened this past Sunday. The point being no free pitch in the future will even be considered. So instead of leaving especially when the afternoon stays dry I'm advising you to stay and sell instead of believing you might be entitled to a free pitch after all I've had a good look around. This again is abusing our system. The family have spoken we know Pendeen can be the place to be to sell and buy it's your choice. Mistakes by me have been made in the past about free pitch entitlements as I made one last Sunday to see the seller going around after lifting up other sellers groundsheets. What cheek. This
£185.11 collected yesterday in donation buckets and mail boxes pushing the total now to £4168.88 for Stratton Hospital League of Friends. THANK YOU. Shame we didn't have today's weather yesterday. Can't win them all. Bring it all on again Thursday July 20th hopefully dry.
What a great atmosphere on site today the sky's were gloomy but in the end Pendeen got away with it. With plenty of buyers surprised we were even on and Sellers glad to come somewhere that hadn't cancelled. Yes the weather wasn't to kind in setting up but patience was rewarded for the approx 100 sellers that sat it out. Thanks for all the support from everyone again today when the decision to actually carry on is somewhat of great concern for the sellers setting up. So pleased I didn't cancel. Last sellers left at 6.25pm. Sheep entered bottom exit field at 6.30pm Thurs July 20th next sale Sheep out that morning but don't forget we use the main entrance only on a Thursday.
Pendeen is so unique how many other Car Boot Sales in the country have a brass band entertain. Thank You Colin Gay and the Bude Metric Brass. Comments was very appreciative loved listening to the entertainment.
Well certainly busy today as this video shows apologies for finger in the way just something different in the way of advertising. Only went up and down two of the designated walkways. First Seller arrived before 7am second just after having to wait 3 hours before entry tell about patience. To end the day last Seller left site 7.20pm. No wonder Pendeen is so popular with sellers by passing many Boot Sales to come here where we are on nearly all day not just an hour and it's all over. Takings by one Seller today over £150 before actual opening time of 1.20 pm Well done. To the couple that bought clothing items for £39 off the M&S stall I'm disappointed to hear you walked away without paying hoping this was a genuine mistake on your behalf and that you both rectify as I understand you seemed a decent trustworthy couple but this may not be the case as time may prove. Today proved pitch fees were not the correct money on entry far to many notes with change having to be given which slows the system down. Please try and bring the correct pitch fee on entry in future. As for the motorbike for sale just outside the main entrance Please have the curtesy to realise this is a Car Boot Sale not somewhere you can come and advertise a vehicle in the car park for free in front of a vast crowd for nothing. If you want to sell you play the game and enter and pay a pitch fee which at £7 would still be cheap for something worth over 3 grand. We as a family will not be used or taken for granted on private land, notices are not displayed as this is such a rare occurrence and so rude on your part for not having the decency to even ask the organiser me or my wife and son or sister. What you do elsewhere doesn't concern us but here we are in control so Obey or stay away. Brilliant day today otherwise let's hope the weather is just as nice next Sunday 9th July.
Fathers Day 18th June main entrance out of three. This is making my hands ache holding camera will have to invest in a tripod at this rate. But just shows the amount of public that supports this event even in such hot conditions as today with this sort of crowd if your'e not selling something may be wrong either to dear or not what buyers are after. There were bargains to be found at a reasonable price and I know some sellers had a good day. Ice cream sales were the order of the day not so much hot food understandable. Muggins was on site nearly 12 hours today and was saddened to hear some news about a Seller friend of Pendeen for years and to make matters worse my colleague in action's mother in law was airlifted to N.D.D.H. At the end of the sale. Pendeen has supported the Cornwall Air Ambulance over the years and this is the first time a call has been made for its use in the 22 years I've been organising Car Boot Sales. It had to happen at some stage and I hope the family concerned have a happy out come. Great to think patient would be there in minutes rather than the hour journey normally by road ambulance. THANKS to all personal that assisted in anyway. Hope everyone had a good day with us and let's hope we can have some more dry weather on Sundays for the rest of the season with Thursday's starting the 20th July for a 7/8 week run.
Well 23rd of April was certainly busy with this video being one of three entrances and what I find fascinating is that I only know ten people from watching this. Now you must certainly must have been spending as I was told by a seller at the end of the day that over £1000.00 had been made. Must admit I even found some bargains I was happy to buy. One thing has been brought to my attention at the end of the day that a Seller was selling cheese items that were out of date now this is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned I understand this was the sellers first time at Pendeen. What goes on at Hatherleigh and elsewhere does't mean I have to tolerate that. As with buying chicken eggs at a Car Boot Sale Trading Standards want you to be wary about buying something that could be potentially a health risk unless a date and address is provided and commercially they should be stamped anyway. Remember this Car Boot Sale is signed up to the Real Deal very few in Cornwall and Devon are.
