BBC app so wrong today Sunday April 13th rain given most of the day.

Another app rain at 6am, slight shower at 11am This is why I took the gamble and opened although nothing at 11am but rain came just before 1pm opening. So, we had a good morning with the early buyers. But by opening three sellers had packed and headed to the main entrance which we had to divert down to the bottom exit which is opened as soon as possible after 1pm. But for some reason the crowd moved forward as if we had given the go ahead. To be honest I was furious and sent them back. Last week a lady entered before the go ahead was given by Karl, I wasn’t at that entrance. The other two entrance gates are locked and opened as soon as I can. It was mentioned that the main entrance gate used to be shut. I don’t want to that as early buyers are exiting up till then. Normally after the Tanoy announcement is the time to enter but we decided not to do that today as it was drizzling. Majority of stall holders were covered up anyway. Karl and I would like a bit of respect and politely ask this never happens again. As soon as Karl beckons or gives some sort of signal you may enter not until he is the boss of this event and Sandra, and I will advise him when something isn’t as it should be.
Today wasn’t as easy as last week filling the seller's rows, we fill from the lower end up having folk wanting to go opposite someone in the middle cause's problems. Please wait until we fill the row up to there.

A composite bow with arrows was sold today WE DO NOT ALLOW WEAPONS TO BE SOLD AT PENDEEN this may have been a new seller here today from one of the cancelled sales in Devon this was not spotted as the volunteers were busy.

Swearing at sellers across from you again totally unacceptable at Pendeen, if you buy something pay for it there and then not go off and come back and find it's been sold.

By now I wasn’t in the best of moods with the other annoying things happening early on you may hear me raise my voice and gosh I will if I am not happy.

But the sale was the correct decision to go ahead as it stayed dry after the 1pm shower with many happy sellers 187, not ice-cream weather, many happy buyers and a gathering for socialising to take place.

Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Easter Monday we are next looking to try and operate. At present due to the forecasts, we are unable to say. But Pendeen was brave enough to operate today. THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING DUE TO VARIED FORECASTS.

Its raining here at Stratton Saturday 2pm, But tomorrow the forecast is better especially for the afternoon.
Not being beach weather cooler than last Sunday we could once again be inundated with folk looking for something to do. Around Easter theres not a lot happening and this is when Pendeen can be at its busiest although Pendeen is now such a major attraction in its own right. Just remember the visitors are about filtering from Stratton up on to the A39 probable delays Pendeen will get the blame as we are the easy target and the bullies will be moaning on other pages although nothing last Sunday. As everyone with any common sense knows it is not our fault as long as our entrance is clear to come in. The problem occurs at the roundabout when drivers sit there just as any other day of the week when at times its so busy. We are in a 30mph zone both entrances and exits rather than a busy dual carriageway and I didn't realise Exeter racecourse was so far out of Exeter until recently when I was looking for the hospital on google. Pendeen is in such a prime spot for the small town of Stratton within walking distance for so many living nearby. Exeter and Stratton being the major sales in the West Country on a Sunday. Hopefully the weather will be kind. 🤔🙂

£539.37 donated from 1pm even higher than last Sunday. THANK YOU SO MUCH. 🙂

We have got off to a magnificent start this season. With a Bank Holiday looming when we are open both Sunday and the Monday same times.

Weather permitting our next sale is Sunday 13th then the Bank Holiday weekend following 20th and 21st The forecast looks promising.

THANK YOU for leaving the site immaculately clean these past two Sundays that gives us a boost to continue.

Couple of folks distributing flyers this past Sunday but stopped as soon as seen, Been a rule here for years now. Flyers can be put on a pitch table for those wishing to pick up if the interest is there. No flyers to be placed on parked cars either. Our volunteers are very observant we do not stand for any rule breaks. Rules are displayed at the two main entrances for all to read. Locals should know better from the other lower entrance.

Our shrub selling couple will be with us on Sunday returning from holiday celebrating a special birthday. We have other folk selling plants including Steve all around the site for gardeners to choose from.

Our egg man is at the main entrance no one else should be selling eggs without our prior knowledge.

The honey man has now located to the gazebo row. Any seller with a gazebo needs to be in that wider row.

We aim to please but can’t please everyone although we do try, the volunteers are great at what they advise and know exactly how Karl, Sandra and I want these sales to operate.

Thank you for reading, Liking and bothering to comment all appreciated. 🙂

What is going on the top main selling area filled so quickly and smoothly before 10.15am and then down the lower end having a total of 274 sellers in brilliant sunshine all day.

Once again, the main carparking filled and the lower selling area was used to park the overflow. I had the chance to ask some parking if there were delays on the road arriving. NO! Being the answer.

It was so cold at 7am this morning after arriving on site before 6am and the wind was blowing fair. But it gradually warmed up the wind went down and what a delightful event this turned out to be.

Hundreds of early buyers once again just as last week. Ice cream venders very happy and it's only the first Sunday in April.

Can we pull this off for a third Sunday perhaps we can?

Travelling from all over Devon and Cornwall to be here You make Pendeen the car boot sale it is. The volunteers guide you in place to park whether selling or buying the setup is second to none. Arrival and exit so smooth THANK YOU to the Volunteers and all that attended today to make Pendeen the social event it is with so many younger children enjoying themselves there today. 🙂

It's late Wednesday afternoon with the forecast looking good for Sunday and possibly the Sunday after seems very windy today but hopefully ease for then. To bring you one of the largest and best attended car boot sales. Folk travel miles and hours to be here there must be a reason? We were asked about next year but we have to see how this season goes up or down? We don't want to commit ourselves it's not as easy as some might think. Not a case of turning up on site on the day and then leaving till the following sale so much goes on at Pendeen during the week to prepare with messages of interest and phone inquires as soon as one sale ends. But we have had a monster hit for some years now with so many in walking distance of Stratton. The sun will bring folk out and another huge social event likely to happen. 🙂

First car boot sale of the season 211 sellers' brilliant amount to start seeing it was chilly but so dry. Buyers in so much abundance with the two major carparking fields filled to go in the overflow area of the lower selling area. So pleased with the donations on entry at 1pm amounting to £526.10 THANK YOU SO MUCH. For the League of Friends of Stratton Hospital. Thank you to Jill, Louise, John, Di, Cynthia, Michael and Cyril for being there collecting.
Thank You to Matt Woodley Radio Devon and Cornwall presenter for asking to interview me with many of you hearing in the early hours of Saturday 7.25am
Strange as having entered the 29th season I have never felt so ill stomach cramp and glad to get home only once a long time ago, but the sales had to go on so as not let everyone down then. I may have some sort of allergy now so will be more careful next Sunday. All I can say now is of the feedback we have in running this event. Any type of publicity good or bad gives us a tremendous boost and with another dry forecast for Sunday 6th April we expect we shall be busy once again. Let the sun shine on Pendeen. Chris x

Hi

Great you are back. My daughter bought a lovely monkey from a seller yesterday. The monkey had sentimental meaning to the lady. It was her mother's. She wanted to make sure it went to a good home. We assured her it would.
Would you be able to share this picture so she can see the creature got a good night's sleep in a warm bed 😊 ?
Many thanks
Sarah

Brilliant start to our new season opening with no holdups on our entrance just a natural flow in with no parking issues. Yet the blame is put on us as if this was something new on Bude Notice Board, Don’t folk realise the sun brings folk out not all wanting to attend a boot sale Mothering Sunday out for a ride. Beach other events. Many are approaching the roundabout turning to Bude Why blame us it’s just a enormous volume of traffic at a certain time. Never saw a queue the Camelford approach just the filtering from Stratton and Bideford. But hey ho the social event for all ages was an astounding success. Looking good for next Sunday for us at Stratton and those going into Bude. Pendeen was at its best today THANK YOU for such support from the VOLUNTEERS in making it run so smoothly and the General Public attending with folk saying it’s so well run. 😊

The sun is out bit chilly but should warm up to give us a dry day at Pendeen.

Sunday 30th March our opening day of the season. We are on with the Primroses in bloom this Spring weekend. Only down side is an hour less in bed clocks spring forward.
Very rare we have started in March last year it was end of April. Pendeen welcomes everyone that appreciates our sales and looking recently at Trip Adviser reviews for 2024 and our own page reviews. Plus the recent comments how clean we keep our Porto Loos. We are extremely grateful for the feedback to counter attack anyone that tends to discredit our success story. With over £217,000.00 raised since the early beginnings. It is the first one of the 2025 season and a practise run for us and the volunteers to get back into the swing of things after a six month break. As usual the donation buckets are there from 1pm for The League Of Friends Of Stratton Hospital entry by donation or free for the crowd.
Early entry as per usual form 10.30am for buyers £5 per adult.
As for numbers its early so no idea but its a dry forecast. 🙂

The six standard and a disabled Porto Loo are now on site. For the 2025 season. Serviced on a weekly basis. With the organisers of Pendeen keeping them as clean as can be on the day and acting as soon as a problem occurs. Spare toilet rolls, Flash and drums of water on hand just in case a clean up is needed. The Porto Loos are spread around the large site with queueing minable. Having seven Porto Loos can be extravagant when forecast is against us, But we need them when numbers are extortionate on a good forcast when the large attendance happens. There for your convenience. 🙂
With very little rain in March as yet Sunday 30th March is on the cards to open if we can. 🤔

Well thats three dry Sundays in March with no rain in the forecast. Very chilly maybe standing around. Last year we had very few forecasts without rain all Summer. Its now two weeks to go before we open Pendeen, The forecast looks good for the week ahead not sure about the weekend. But its Sunday March 30th we could do with a reasonable forecast so we could at least get going?
Porto Loos will be ordered tomorrow in advance as last year wasn't even able to bring them on site until end of April as it was so wet.
Roast dinner today, One more next Sunday that has been booked for some time. Then our commitment will begin to bring you what has to be the biggest mingling social weekly event around.
We know folk are eager for us to start The clocks alter that weekend so unless pouring with rain no lie in. We do loose an hour.
Just a little more patience, Hopefully a rise in temperature first thing. If we are unable to open its a wait until the forcast is on side!
Someone may be able to correct me but if I remember March 1976 was dry and we ended up with the dryest Summer to date. If only.🤔

With just six weeks left now before a possible opening preparations will soon begin so that if able we will open Sunday March 30th. Just need the last fortnight in March to be reasonably dry to stand any chance of going ahead then?

At present Sunday March 30th this is the opening date of the new season of carbooting at Pendeen. If and when the weather allows we shall open every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday then until the end of September 2025
As a family we commit ourselves again into organising this huge weekly event. Unbelievebly folk seem to talk about Pendeen all Winter at other gatherings. Just shows the popularity Pendeen gives to so many far and wide. 🙂

Since 1996 - 2024 with covid year out, 28 years of organising.
This grand total amount rises. With £10,000 donated to the League Of Friends Of Stratton Hospital Plus another £4,500 going to our on going charities as a family commitment. A shorter season this year not being able to get going and ending with two cancellations, Three other cancellations and four postponements to start with. I think we done pretty well considering the weather this year.
CAN WE START SUNDAY THE 30th March 2025 IF THE WEATHER AND FORECASTS ALLOWS? 🤔
Once again as we have done for so long so many charities / organisations come and sell at Pendeen with the added avantage of a free pitch raising thousands for their chosen choice. So much goodwill by so many in making Pendeen so popular with sellers, buyers and visitors the balance is there for all to see. 🙂
THANK YOU FOR SUCH SUPPORT ONE AND ALL. 🙂🙂🙂🙂

For some reason I am being asked so early whether the sale is on this Sunday. Folk can see for themselves the forecasts which are bad.
If a decision is made to early It may be the wrong call but it is Friday am normally I wait till later this evening. From the forecasts I refer to Pendeen will be cancelled once again Sunday September 29th
This means Pendeen will now close as the season of carbooting ends.
Unfortunately we were unable to open early end of March 2024 and now we finish with two cancellations at the end of September 2024.
But the last sale on the 15th was an event that ended on a high.
Sandra, Karl and I THANK everyone for supporting PENDEEN and look forward to continuing next year. THANKS to Team Pendeen SIMPLY THE BEST. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
