A useful wee video, best if viewed before travelling to Mull 💚 For clarity, the road is the tarmac-ed bit - untarmac-ed bare areas at the side of the road have been caused by people off-roading to pass each other and not reversing to the passing place behind them, risking getting their tyres punctured or breaking their car suspensions. Our verges and road edges are being worn away - please stay on the tarmac 💚

Beautiful new handrails now installed courtesy of local blacksmith Andy Fellows. He's now working on new gates for the side access to each cottage and the front gate to the courtyard.

I expected the sea buckthorn jelly to be more yellow/orange. It is what it is and it definitely tastes different to the crabapple jelly, both delicious 😋 A couple of jars off to the sentry box (with honesty box) in the courtyard to join the crabapple jelly jars 🧡

A rather different aruroa tonight - pale greens and deep purples with moving lilac vertical structures. And I caught an aeroplane in one of the photos - how good must the aurora look to them! 💚💜

This aurora made the news this evening! It was amazing with green and red visible to the naked eye and lots of vertical columnar structure. The way it moves and shimmers as you watch it is incredible - impossible to capture easily on video. So here are some photos ❤️💚

We've just had three 7kW EV charging points installed, one outside each cottage, so if you were considering bringing your EV to Mull, you would be able to charge it overnight.

A new addition to the parking area of the cottages - a public access defibrillator on the wall of the garage. Hopefully it won't be needed, but comforting to know that it is there and easily accessible!

The events at the Euro 2020 tournament at the weekend are a reminder of how lucky we are to have 24 public access defibrillators maintained by volunteers across Mull and Iona. Here is a map showing the locations. Remember to first dial 999 to summon the emergency services.

After a lot of work behind the scenes over the last month or two, we are able to open the cottages for guests on 1st August 2020. Bookings can now be taken for the rest of this year and 2021.

Skelly has survived through the winter, but not without damage - his bottom bracket is now rusted solid so his pedals no longer turn and he's now freewheeling. Sloe jelly is the latest variety! 6 available now - sloe, rosehip, pink fuchsia, red fuchsia, blackcurrant and rowan. Bramble and crab apple to come when they're ripe!

Mendelssohn on Mull

These young musicians are fabulous - having heard them rehearse I strongly recommend you pop along to one of their concerts today/tomorrow.

Our Spring Music event takes place on Friday & Saturday 26th & 27th April with three free concerts given by young artists who worked with the Doric Quartet at last year's Mendelssohn on Mull. Tim Crawford, David Shaw, Isidora Timotijevic, Jean-Baptiste Souchon and Alma Hernan will play music by Beethoven, Mozart and Mendelssohn.
Friday 26 at 7pm in Pennyghael Hall
Saturday 27 at 11.30am in Iona Abbey (Abbey admission fee applies)
Saturday 27 at 7pm in Bunessan Community Hall.

8 days since it last rained here, and the forecast suggests it may be another week to ten days till we see any rain. Absolutely spectacular weather and it is showing Mull at its very best. If you aren't already here, you are missing out!
