๐ฟโจ From the stunning views at The Lookout, you can see across to Whiteford Burrows, North Gower, which we decided to explore on a recent trip. A peaceful spot managed by the National Trust, with tidal marshes, beaches, and woodlands, all offering views of Burry Port. ๐๏ธย
Firstly, we enjoyed a delicious birthday lunch at the Britannia Inn in Llanmadoc. A short drive away, we parked at Cwm Ivy. The area is not only scenic but also rich in wildlife, the marshlands being an important feeding ground for wading birds and wildfowl. Sheep and horses also roam freely on the marshlands ๐๐. A perfect place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature. ๐ณย

DOG FRIENDLY things to do in Carmarthenshire
Some of our favourites:
PEMBREY COUNTRY PARK: A blend of coast and countryside. Set inside 500 acres of woodland and alongside eight miles of sandy blue flag beach. Fantastic walks and attractions to entertain the whole family. There is only a small portion of the beach which is off-limits to dogs. Pembrey is adjacent to Burry Port, a few minutes by car, or a short cycle ride away along the coastal path.
KIDWELLY CASTLE: Dogs on leads can venture behind the battlements for a walk through the grounds of the medieval fortress. The castle rises above the river Gwendraeth which has picturesque walks. The now disused Kaymerโs Canal is also popular for walks , with beautiful views and thriving wildlife habitat. The castle is located in nearby Kidwelly, a 14 minute drive away from The Lookout.
NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES: Every Monday and Friday plus the first weekend of the month are doggy days at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. There are 568 acres to explore with your furry friend. Some areas remain off limits, but dogs are welcome in the majority of the gardens. The gardens are a 36 minute drive away from The Lookout.
LLANSTEFFAN CASTLE: Dogs on leads are welcome on the ground level of the site. This is one of our favourite castles to visit, the views are breathtaking. Llansteffan Castle is a 45 minute drive away from The Lookout, and well worth a visit.
LAUGHARNE: Dogs on leads are welcome on the ground level of Laugharne Castle. The โbrown as owlsโ castle beloved of Dylan Thomas, Laugharneโs most famous resident. The Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk has spectacular views. Laugharne is a 45 minute drive away from The Lookout.
