Two Peak District charities to feature in Peak District Monoply.
Nominations needed before 23.59 June 29th.

Two Peak District charities will feature on a brand-new official MONOPOLY: Peak District Edition game. The chosen charities will get to star on two of the game’s Community Chest spaces.

Earlier this month it was announced that the UK’s current tourist hotspot is getting its very own official version of the world’s most popular board game.

At the time, the public is invited to send in general suggestions for local landmarks - such as Chatsworth and the Heights of Abraham – to feature in the game. Polls close later this week. Now two charities will be featured too.

For charities to qualify for this opportunity and be in the running to be selected, the charities have to Peaks linked, as well as be official. The public can nominate charities and charities can nominate themselves.

Over the last 30 years, Winning Moves UK has produced official versions of MONOPOLY featuring locations across the world, many in niche places from Palm Beach to Phuket.

The tokens are being customised too, with the original MONOPOLY counters like the Scottie dog and boot getting the boot. In their place a miniature Bakewell tart looks a shoo in, with a pair of walking boots likely to feature instead of the old boot.

Suggestions can be made by via email to: [email protected]. Nominations will be accepted for consideration until 23.59pm on 29th June 2024.

As the next instalment of the highly anticipated society period drama Bridgerton is now here Buxton Crescent has teamed up with Asmodee to launch a lavish regency afternoon tea with aristocratic themed games in honour of the splendid and scandalous series.

The Buxton Crescent Regency Afternoon Tea will offer a selection of delicious savoury and sweet treats freshly made by Buxton Crescent’s expert pastry chef, along with Prosecco or a selection of Laurent Perrier Champagnes.

Map reading is a skill that is incredibly useful for all sorts of outdoor activities and allows you to confidently explore new places and venture further.

Knowing exactly where you are in the moorland or mountains and being able to give your location via an accurate grid reference becomes even more useful in an emergency.

Ordnance Survey are a Mountain Rescue England and Wales Partner and for National Map Reading Week they’ve got a whole host of free online lessons on their website for all ability levels - whether you’ve never picked a map up before in your life or you think you’re a ninja navigator.

We are super dog friendly here with treats, dog bowls and towels provided. Enclosed garden, lots of dog friendly pubs and walks from the doorstep. Grab one of our few remaining summer days - it you book via our lovely pals at Pack Holidays there is often a nice offer.

If you've never been to Tideswell in the Peaks now is your chance! What a great village it is -

- Central location to all Peak District attractions
- 10-15 mins drive from Chatsworth
- Great pubs, cafes and restaurants
- Superb walks from the doorstep

Granby Cottage is in the heart of the village and has a few weekday spots left this year (offering 10% discount on website price).

For regulars I am getting very booked up now for summer so if you are considering it might be worth getting in whilst you can!

Big shout out to The Star Inn, Tideswell today (for being super helpful thanks) - our favourite local and an absolute must for cottage guests!

Only '4 people away', best pies in the area, super friendly and you certainly won't need a taxi home if you are staying!
