The sewing room is set up with cutting tables and mats, ironing boards and irons and plenty of space to sew. You just need to bring along your projects and machines to work on. We do have machines available if you wish to borrow one but I find most people are happiest with their own machines.
Prices are:
Midweek £325 in a single room, £260 in a shared room, £160 for a non-sewing partner
Weekend £375 in a single room, £310 in a shared room, £210 for a non-sewing partner
Each retreat is 3 nights in an en-suite room and 3 full days of sewing. The price includes two dinners, 3 lunches, 3 breakfasts, snacks and hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks. I don’t cook dinner on the first night as everyone arrives at different times, but you are welcome to bring something to reheat and use the kitchen as needed.

This includes 5 bedrooms (up to 10 people if sharing - all rooms are en-suite and can be set up as double or single), 4 upstairs and 1 downstairs.
Our studio space is large and light and we set you up with 10 sewing tables, plenty of chairs, extension cables, two high cutting tables with mats, two ironing boards and irons.
You bring your machines, your projects, your food and your friends.
The price for 2024 is £1215 for weekend dates and £1135 for midweek dates.
We run regular 3 day/3 night sewing retreats at Thirkelow, you get to bring along your sewing projects and join a small group of like-minded others for 3 days of sewing and relaxing while we look after you and feed you.

Our one of a kind designs are musically inspired and beautifully drawn by our in house design team. All or are orders are made on demand so nothing is wasted. They are made in a circular manufacturing process powered by renewable energy and using all organic cotton. When you have finished using your product you can return it to the manufacturer and they will recycle and reuse your product.
My relatively modest haul from this year. I had a fantastic few days. One with family and two with helping out on their stand. I don’t usually buy much, just browse and gather inspiration so it was nice to get myself a few treats this year.

A new selection. An old recipe, beetroot, feta, green lentils and fresh mint; another new recipe, crispy pan fried potatoes with a ‘tartare’ topping - bites a new favourite by today’s guests; an , super simple mangetout or sugar snap peas with chopped roasted nuts and vinaigrette, and fresh leaves, apple and goats cheese with a yoghurt dressing for good measure.
Today’s salad selection for my guests lunch. Carrot, roasted chickpeas and pistachios with a tahini dressing Roasted squash, *blueberries (sub for blackberries), walnuts and feta plus tomato, avocado and cucumber, and ‘just green’.
Ah, it must be retreat time again. I’ve missed you all over the winter. Looking forward to seeing many of you and meeting new people over the next few months!

Venue hire cost is £995 for 3 nights and 3 days. Arriving 5pm on day one, until 4pm on the final day.
There are 5 en-suite bedrooms which can all be set up as double or single beds. A fully equipped kitchen, just bring your own food, and small lounge as well as our large, light studio space. The studio has tables for 10, but we recommend 8 if you are all planning on bringing multiple machines, just to give you a bit more space. Or just bring four friends and have the luxury of a room

During this 3 day retreat, we’ll spend a couple of hours each day working on some Christmas projects. Some Christmas trees to sew into bunting or hanging decorations, and an elegant Christmas stocking.
On the Monday we have Jess from J Austin Designs coming to teach a Christmas wreath class to get you properly in the mood for the season.
The cost for the 3 day retreat will be £475 in a single room, or £410 in a shared room.

My quilt is at in Birmingham this weekend. Made for the project who make hug shaped quilts for young people leaving the care system in the UK, usually between the ages of 16 and 19. This poem is by poet who was a careleaver himself and now works with organisations which support young care leavers such as

Our June Beginners quilting course is starting to fill up, but still places available - running from 18th to 20th June. Here are the details: Day 1 we will go through some basic patchwork techniques and learn how to make a couple of blocks that can be repeated to create a full sized quilt. Day 2 after finishing the quilt blocks we will sandwich and baste the quilts ready for quilting. Day 3 we will look at how to quilt and bind your quilt on a domestic machine, hopefully sending you home at the end of the day with a finished quilt. In between if we have time we might have a go at smaller projects such as a pillow or tote bag to practice your skills. This is a launch price offer. Price for the quilting retreat will be £249 in a shared room for two nights accommodation, all home cooked meals, and 3 days of sewing including tuition. Experienced quilters or sewers are welcome too, price without tuition will be £199 in a shared room. Non participating partners are welcome to stay and join the group for meals for £99 in a shared room.
