The chimney has been swept ready for cozy evenings in front of the log stove.
A new fence in the front garden to make the garden more dog friendly.

Great news. The Cheshire Cheese Pub in Longnor has re opened after a really nice refurbishment. Great beer and food menu starting tomorrow! We have booked for Sunday Lunch.

It’s an April shower day here in The Brund.
The daffodils are in full bloom and the verges had the first topping mow yesterday. Spring is here with the promise of sunshine and showers!

Delighted to be able to report that we have earned our Super Host badge again in the latest quarterly review.
Do what does it mean?
We have to maintain 4.5 out of 5 star rating
Maintained a less than 1% cancellation rate
Had regular bookings

I think it gives the prospective guest some reassurance that we sort of know what we are doing !

The guest feedback at Rose Cottage has been brilliant and we are really pleased.
We are sold out until into May!

I was reminded by a good friend, Tim, that there are a few things you won’t find here in The Brund!
Lots of crowds
Busy footpaths
Bus trippers
Traffic noise
Busy roads

This is a peaceful and tranquil area with miles of unspoilt muddy footpaths, quiet river banks where the gurgling water and occasional sheep is all you hear. Yes, you might get stuck behind a tractor for a few minutes so slow down and enjoy the view.
The night skys are dark and happily full of owls hooting away. Bird watchers enjoy the hedgerows and trees. The local woodpecker has been very busy this week!
Just another quiet day at The Brund….

Totally free star gazing available here! Rose Cottage has a secluded location in The Manifold Valley. There is very little light pollution and big skys. There are no street lights and the views over the valley have very few lights. Just the occasional farm in the distance. So it makes a great place to look at the stars. Just recently we have had some very clear nights. The owls are lovely too!
