Hafod Estate is a magnificent 200 hectares of extensive grounds, restored historic gardens and walking trails. We spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon exploring along the paths through woodland trails, alongside streams and waterfalls, over bridges and through tunnels! So much space brimming with wildlife and flora, a definite destination if you book a stay with us, and you can finish your day off with a lovely meal at !

“LUXURY HOTELS ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY.” 🤔

FALSE!!

While some luxury hotels are overflowing with amazing rooms, stunning locations, and stellar staff, many are a big fat ripoff. Don’t assume that a big price tag means stellar service, free hotel amenities and top notch accommodation. Quite often, the more expensive the hotel, the more likely they’ll charge for conveniences like WiFi, parking and breakfasts.

Why not try hiring a whole cottage instead? This way you get a whole house to yourselves, the use of all the facilities will be included in the price, look for a property that offers free Wifi and free parking, a house with a garden will mean that it’s exclusively yours.

Relax at your own pace, eat meals when you feel like it, create your own bar with no ‘last orders’ and chill out. In your own home from home, you can set the agenda and enjoy yourself and the company you’ve invited along.

Don’t be afraid to use a map! 🗺

Don’t be afraid to use a map or ask for directions and look like a tourist. After all, you are one! I always use a map when I travel. It helps you get to where you need to go!

But don’t be afraid to get purposefully lost 🧭

Wandering aimlessly through the countryside is a good way to get to know it, get off the beaten path, and away from the tourists. You might be surprised by the hidden gems you find!

Always visit the local tourism office.
They know about everything going on in the local area. They can point you to free activities, special events happening during your stay, and everything in between. They even offer discounts on attractions and transportation. It is their job to help you experience the destination better. It’s amazing how many travelers skip this when they are visiting somewhere but, as a savvy traveler, you know to use this resource! This is probably one of the most underused travel tips in the world. Use the tourism board! Save money!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I am definitely a night owl, where as Mr C is a morning person!

Numerous studies have found that morning people are more persistent, self-directed and agreeable. They set higher goals for themselves, plan for the future more and have a better sense of well-being. Although morning types may achieve more academically, night owls tend to perform better on measures of memory, processing speed and cognitive ability, even when they have to perform those tasks in the morning. Night-time people are also more open to new experiences and seek them out more. They may be more creative (although not always). And contrary to the maxim (‘healthy, wealthy and wise’), one study showed that night owls are as healthy, wealthy and wise as morning types!

So I guess whichever you are, you’re doing just fine!! Focus on being happy and doing things that bring you joy 🤩
