Our 8 unique eco-friendly farm cottages are located on a beautiful and dramatic peninsula not far from Calgary Beach, on the Isle of Mull, often described as the wildlife capital of the UK. We are open all year round. The cottages sleep between 2 and 6. Small scale renewables and masses of insulation help reduce our carbon footprint - wind & solar power, biomass boiler. We are proud to hold a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award.

All four corners of the sky tonight. And overhead. The most beautiful Aurora Borealis. Colours visible to the naked eye and a wonderful coruna above our heads which I always find tricky to photograph. It’s beginning to rain now so I am off to bed!

‘It’s like sleeping in a jewel box’.

It was lovely to get a mention in the article in yesterday’s Times Weekend supplement about Mull. Thank you to Antonia Quirke for choosing to highlight the Treshnish Shepherd’s Hut!

The light was autumnal but the warmth was blissfully summery at Treshnish yesterday. Somerset mowed the Haunn field for silage and the cottages were prepared for incoming guests.

We’ve got spaces in September and October and can be flexible with short breaks so do have a look at our website and please email me with any queries.

Gaelic cultural experiences in Mull, Iona and surrounds
These surveys – one for residents and one for visitors – are being conducted by Dr Alasdair Whyte from An Sàilean ~ Salen with the support of Dr Chris Dalglish of Land Heritage. The surveys are designed to gather your views about the development of local cultural experiences featuring Gaelic place-names, songs and stories based on my (Alasdair’s) local upbringing and my research at the University of Glasgow. Development of the experiences is at an early stage. Your views will help shape this project. The ambition is to develop a range of authentic, hyperlocal and sustainable Gaelic cultural experiences for residents and visitors alike in an area which is steeped in Gaelic history and has a burgeoning Gaelic future. Longer-term ambitions include the development of a hub celebrating local Gaelic language and culture and serving the community. Thank you for your thoughts and your time. The survey will close at midnight on Sunday 18 August 2024. The surveys can be accessed via the following links / QR codes:

Treshnish Guests staying this weekend.. an opportunity to sample a tasting menu at Croft 3 with Chef Darren Ross..

*Space for Tasting Menu* We’ve had a cancellation for our tasting menu on Saturday so we have a few spaces to fill. The above image is one of the dishes being served on Saturday, smoked asparagus ice cream, coffee, meringue. It’s one of the best desserts I’ve tasted. Give us a message if you’d like to come!

Our Story

Treshnish & Haunn Cottages have a selection of sustainable holiday homes situated on a coastal sheep farm on the beautiful Isle of Mull. The views are wonderful, and there is plenty of scope for walking and exploring.

We have 8 unique holiday cottages here, attractively decorated and furnished - an eclectic mix of antique, vintage and contemporary. They vary in size from romantic crofters’ blackhouses sleeping 2 to farm cottages sleeping 3 or 4, and a spacious barn conversion sleeping up to 6.

Family run, we are open all year and happy to accept well behaved dogs.

Please have a look at our website for further details, and contact us if you have any queries. https://treshnish.co.uk
