Smugglers Pirate and Corsair is open for entries but which will you be?
The Pirates get to do the Half Marathon, meeting Pirate Keith on route, to gather your b***y
The Corsairs do the Marathon, whilst graced in the presence of Royalty. Collect your warrant and payment then head back to hunt Pirates
These races ain't for the faint hearted, with both being some of the toughest races in Cornwall.
The Pirate has a very generous 5 hour cut off and the Corsair has a challenging 8 hour cut off.
Both races are a bargain at £32 and £55 respectively

The FSM results......
Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy and eventful few weeks but I've got there in the end.
Well done to everyone who ran and thank you all for your continued support
We really wanted to reschedule the race but inland routes involve more permissions, plus with the Cornish race calendar being so full, We just couldn't fit it in.
Remember, you can still run it virtually to obtain your medal and please make use of the discount code that I sent you.

With so many runners contacting me in every way possible (Pigeon was the only one not used 😆) I may of missed one or two of you.
You have until Saturday to message me, if you think you have been missed out. This is for run on the FSM route, completed by the 31st December.

The FSM (that never happened) may of been a week ago but you have been busy bees.
Lots of you have been running your areas and on the course. Posting your runs and medals have been winging their way to you 🏅
One thing we were looking forward to, was introducing our new award.
Named after an amazing marshal that we lost this year. The Richard Simpson Award is given to this year's marshal who has gone above and beyond.
You can see by the picture, that it was awarded to the truly amazing Becky and we had the chance to give it to her at the Heartlands Cornwall
What a fantastic human being she is and how much she does for the running community is absolutely incredible.

With its varied terrain, stunning scenery and fascinating heritage, we discover why Cornwall is the ultimate location for runners.
When you first think of a marathon, it’s probably London or one of the other big cities that immediately springs to mind. Indeed, if you’ve never hit the trails of Kernow, you’d be forgiven for thinking that running and big cities go hand in hand (or even foot in foot).
Now, anyone who has ever visited Cornwall knows how magnificent its coastline is. But for the race directors at Bys Vyken Events & Cornish Trails, it holds particular significance due to two factors close to their hearts: history and running.
The aim of Bys Vyken Events & Cornish Trails is to blend the two together, showcasing the very best that this beloved county has to offer, through organising non-commercialised, stripped back races that display the heritage of each route in a way that promotes Bys Vyken’s passion for the county.
David Andrewartha of Bys Vyken explains: “Through the sport of running, we shine a spotlight on the heritage that we so often take for granted on the clifftops of the most beautiful place on Earth. With events that include a 35-mile ultra-marathon, a pirate-themed half marathon, a coastal 5k, a 12-mile coast-to-coast pilgrimage and a planned 125-mile stage race over 4 race that spans the entire length of the Duchy (an ultra a day!),along with several community events working with charities and community hubs, we explore the magical coastal pathways which have been mystified in tales of swashbuckling, romance, and lost industries for many centuries.”
Bys Vyken Events caters for runners of all abilities. Whatever your level of experience, there is a journey through history for you within its calendar of events. “We offer the chance to naturally progress through our plethora of distances as we welcome all first timers,” continues David. “And what greater place in the world to run your first than in Poldark country?”
Here in Cornwall, we’re spoilt for choice with a variety of different terrains that pass the derelict ruins of a mining industry that changed the world forever. Each route tells its own unique story, with each event adding another point on the history of Cornwall’s great and exquisitely vivid coastline. And with it, 200 passionate runners climbing 3,000 feet of remote nature.
We may not be the most commercial, but we certainly do things with a certain kind of heart, passion and drive seldom seen in Cornwall.
Bys Vyken Events & Cornish Trails has been awarded ‘Plastic Free Coastlines Approved’ status by Surfers against Sewage and Plastic Free Penzance for the continued work in adapting and changing and keeping these events plastic free.
