FREE Precincts is back! 🌳🚶‍♀️

The perfect chance to discover England’s First Cathedral this summer!

Enjoy free entry to large parts of Canterbury Cathedral’s Precincts from 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 11.30am to 9pm on Sundays during our second Free Precincts Trial (Saturday 17th August to Sunday 8th September 2024).

Sightseers will only need to pay to enter the Cathedral building and areas including the Cloisters, Herb Garden and Chapter House during standard sightseeing hours.

Wow! What a weekend! The first Sunday serving our new Summer Roasts! 🌞

Can we just say thank you to everyone who booked in and joined us on such a lovely day. As a small business with a good reputation for our traditional Sunday roasts, some may say it was a gamble to reinvent but we couldn't be more pleased with the amazing feedback (and bookings for next week) we received.

The event begins with a parade along Canterbury’s High Street and finishes at the Cathedral! Watch as knights on horseback, merry minstrels and peasants bring history to life. After the parade, embark on an adventure across town! Visit 20 stops along the Family Trail and discover secrets about medieval Canterbury. Want to make a quest out of it? Grab a Trail Map from any of the stops or head to the Beaney Art of House and Knowledge to get one. Then, collect 5 stamps from different stops on your trail prize to win a prize from the Cathedral Gift Shop!

Canterbury Cathedral recently worked with Canterbury’s Foundry Brewery to create a gin flavoured with herbs found in the Cathedral Herb Garden. Trace the route from garden to glass on this special tour!

Discover the Cathedral's gardens on a guided tour led by a member of our senior gardening team. Learn how the gardens were used by the Benedictine monks who lived in the monastery here during the middle ages, growing their own food and even brewing their own beer on site.

Then follow the route the herbs took to the glass, on a tour of the Foundry, where Jon - brewer, distiller and Founder - will explain the whole brewing and distilling process.

This is a very interactive experience - everyone is welcome to ask questions, and the tour includes gin and tonic tasting.
