Our historic listed cottage on beautiful Isle of Skye. The perfect place to find tranquillity.

Just up the road from Beachcomber, this should be a great event.
Iain's perfect catch at Loch Bay Shellfish deserves the perfect wine from the Wine Guy on Skye
Ever tried Bacchus grape as an alternative to the Sauvignon Blanc white wine? New World SBs are getting zingier and zingier and very citrus heavy. Our English Bacchus from Kingscote in Sussex gives you the citrus zing but without slapping you in the face with a bucket of lemons and limes! 🍋🍋 The background of floral notes - think elderflower and honeysuckle 💐- rounds off the flavours that balance with fresh seafood like creamy lobster, prawns pealed on the beach or smoked salmon slices.🫎🦞🦐🦀🐠
A lovely souvenir from Waternish.
Summer solstice, it rained all day, but just before midnight we got this.
The overhanging waterfall at the Fairy pools.
The quiche is amazing!
Morning! A little blustery today but we have all the goodies to keep you warm and cosy.
Today on the menu:
Chocolate and ginger gateau
Gluten-free orange and hazelnut cake
Salted caramel crumble squares
Fresh scones
Butternut squash soup
Pork pie, quiche platters
Vegan sausage rolls.
Don't forget we're now open 9.30am to 5.30pm every day. See you soon 🙂

A trip to Beachcomber should always include a trip to Isle of Skye Hampers and Donnie's Tablet Shed in nearby Geary.
Tim was thrilled with his purchases.
We did well today, 5 Dino footprints spotted.
We love this community cafe in nearby Dunvegan. What a view!
This was last night at 11.55pm.
Proper dark is very short this time of year.
Did you know that Skye has temperate rainforests? One is near Uig, and full of beautiful mosses and other plants, as well as Rha Waterfalls. Well worth a visit.
Head briefly west along the A855 from Uig to the signpost for Rha Woods on the right. A slightly muddy path with lots of steps leads about 200m to the falls.
It's a double waterfall, and it'd be possible to have a dip in the pool here (if you're brave!), and it's often quiet.
We have to admit to rather liking this gin. Why not pick up a bottle on your way through Broadford or Portree and enjoy a G&T in the garden or in front of the fire?
Happy World Gin Day.- 8th June 2024- we think Scotland has the world’s best gin! To celebrate we will be pouring a glass of our Classically Aromatic.
If you are on Skye come sample our gin in our shops in Portree and Breakish.
New chairs for the front garden to match the roses.
Souterrain at Claigan near the Coral beach.
Rather a tight squeeze to get into but for the braver probably not a problem.
The Souterrain is located amongst a iron age settlement which is still just about visible on the surface if you look around.

Dinosaur footprints at An Corran beach. Made 168 million years ago by a Megalosaurus. Check the tides before your visit, it's best mid to low tide. The footprints are in an area of flat rock. Take the A855 towards Staffin, just after the village there's a sign marked 'to the beach' follow the signs to the slipway for just over half a mile.
An Iron Age Souterrain, some 2000 years old. There are about 20 of these on Skye. This one is at Kilvaxter. Take the A855 north out of Uig and you'll find it about 5 miles away on the right hand side of the road. The day we went it had about 5 inches of standing water in it, so it's best viewed with wellies and waterproof trousers.

One of 2 Picktish stones on Skye, and is a rarity as most are found on the Eastern side of Scotland. Clach Ard can be found at Tote, a crofting township. You reach the stone by turning North onto the single track B8036 from the A850 near Skeabost. After a quarter of a mile you turn left onto the minor road to Tote, and you'll find the stone a few hundred yards later. It has stood here since 1880 when it was found being used as a doorjam.

Some fabulous trips here from the jetty at Stein.
2 more reviews in.
Hubert from France gave it 4 stars:
Beautiful place, impeccable accommodation, good restaurant next door.
Emma from England gave it 5 stars:
A beautiful location, with the added benefit of a pub and restaurant close by. Cottage was well equipped, and kitchen stocked with basic housekeeping items for a short stay. Take a pair of slippers or indoor shoes for the tiled kitchen floor!
Emma needs a pair of Heelan Coo slippers like the ones I have!
Our nextdoor neighbour!
Skye is a foodie paradise, especially if you love seafood. We've been enjoying many of the fantastic places to eat; cafe's, pubs and restaurants, trying to chose one special place each visit. Our latest foray was to Chidakasha in Glendale. This is an unusual concept, it's a tea house serving a set menu with paired teas. It was clearly all made with a lot of love. You don't need to be a veggie to enjoy the delicately spiced food.
A review of Skye's only tea house and vegetarian restaurant, Chidakasha
Those throws look beautiful
Lots of amazing trips on offer from our friends at Divers Eye Boat Trips
Just up from the cottage at Ardmore bay are a small herd of Blonde Highland Cows. We popped up for a walk and were very pleased to see this year's calves. They are VERY cute!
We kept a respectful distance though as we didn't want to disturb them.
We had beautifully clear skies during the week and you can clearly see the mountains in South Harris some 20 miles distant.
