Covid 19 Protocol
July 2020
First of all I just want to thank you for all your messages and calls of support in these very stressful and strange times we find ourselves in. I have made so much more than clients during my time as a hairdresser and I am truly grateful!
Covid 19 is a scary, invisible threat and I'm sure it has affected everyone directly or indirectly.
I'm delighted to welcome you back from the 13th July 2020 onwards with a virtual hug and a human hairstyle after 4 months!
The government has provided public information and guidelines that I will be following and will also be asking of you to follow.
Symptoms of Covid 19
It is so important to inform me if you are showing symptoms of Covid 19 or if anyone in your household comes down with any symptoms.
The main symptoms are:
High temperature - This means you feel hot to touch on your chest and back (you do not need to check your temperature)
New continuous cough - This means coughing a lot more for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours. ( if you usually have a cough it may be worse than usual.)
Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste - This means you have noticed you cannot smell or taste anything or things smell or taste different to normal.
PPE and temperature check
On arrival I will greet you with the biggest smile, a visor and a disposable mask to put on straight away. I will have just washed and alcohol gelled my hands. I will also use a non contact thermometer to check your temperature before you enter. I shall also be taking daily temperatures or myself and my family. I'm afraid no hugs tho 😞
I shall make sure every new client has a fully sanitized gown and towels. I shall wear gloves where necessary however i shall keep my hands washed and alcohol gelled very regularly and shall expect the same from you.
I shall be respectful of the 2 metre social distancing where i can ( in between colours) and shall work outside if i can.
Surcharge
I have decided not to charge any extra for PPE as it is vital to both yourself and myself and our wider circles we do so whilst Covid 19 is still a threat, however i will have to charge a £5 surcharge for colour clients for the first treatment to cover some of the costs of the extra product used for your hair ( super long roots!) This is not something I wanted to do however I don't see I have a choice.
Cleaning and sterilising.
I shall be keeping my working area deep cleaned including all common areas including door handles. I will be allowing extra time in between clients to fully sterilize my tools. If i am working from your home i shall be following the same procedures there also.
I have undertaken the Barbicide Covid 19 training and sterilizing and disinfecting equipment in the workplace course.
When working from home
I will only be using my side door for entry and exit for my clients. I shall also be keeping the door to the house closed (sorry boys!) so you will only have contact with myself. I won't however stop you from using the toilet if needed and shall antibac the toilet and taps before use.
In order to avoid the spread of Covid 19
Please do not come for your hair appointment if you are at all unwell or if i am coming to you if you or your family are unwell. I shall follow this also. Please let me know if you need to rearrange your appointment.
Upon your visit, please keep your hands clean ensuring you wash them thoroughly for at least 20 seconds in hot water and soap. There will be paper towels and alcohol gel also present. Also please try not to keep touching your face ( i realise this is a hard task.) Please catch all coughs and sneezes in tissues provided and then bin them in the provided bin. Then wash hands again.
Anyone who is concerned they have encountered the virus to follow Government advice.
Waiting list
I will aim to get through my waiting list as quickly and safely as I can; however to avoid disappointment I am happy to take appointments further in advance.
For those in the shielding category i shall be giving you first refusal of the appointments for the week of the 16th August.
Ps - I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU!!
Contact tracing
I shall be taking details of every client's Full name, address and contact details via a disclaimer form to say you have read my guidance provided also also to help with the Protect and trace scheme.
If you have any queries at all i am here to answer any further questions you may have.
Many thanks and lots of love, Sofia x x x
