Weever Fish alert!!
The little blighters are back!
I stood on one for the 1st time ever today and our lifesaving club staff got 3 stings in a single session Saturday.
Boy it's painful!
(We all had bare feet)

It's time to wear wetsuit shoes or boots or flip flops, especially at lower tides (but i was mid tide and saturday staff were high tide).. they're easily avoided, their spines aren't very big.

If you do get stung, get the affected areas in water as hot as you can handle for as long as you can handle. (40mins suggested).
Take paracetamol and ibuprofen for pain and antihistamines for swelling & allergic reaction.
If it swells badly or you're in extreme pain, please visit a medical professional.
Beach lifeguards have the necessary kit...kettle and footl bath! (And pain relief in extreme cases).

🌊🔥 It's beach fire season, so here are some top tips if you're planning a fire on a Pembrokeshire beach this summer!

🔥Use or create a small fire container
Whether you use a fire pit or dig your own, make sure your fire is contained

🔥Keep it manageable
Add wood bit by bit throughout the evening, keeping it small and easily extinguishable

🔥Allow it to burn down
When the evening is winding down, don't add any more fuel and allow the fire to burn itself down

🔥Extinguish thoroughly
Once it's burned down, use a bucket of sea water or sand to put it out completely

🔥Leave no trace
Dispose of any ashes & debris, or if there's no where appropriate take it with you and dispose of it when you can, leaving the beach as beautiful as you found it!
