Last evenings 10 minute drive to Poppit Sands as the sun was setting, our walk on the beach where swimmers were enjoying the warmth of the evening water and return our drive as the moon was rising..

🏖️ Our local beach is the glorious Poppit Sands, which is only a 10 minute drive. Poppit is dog friendly too and the fab Crwst Poppit cafe is very popular with all ages ☕️🍦🍪

❤️Happy Welsh Valentine’s Day ❤️

St Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers. Today is the Wales equivalent of Valentine’s Day so it is the most romantic day of the year here in Wales.❤️

Dwynwen was born in the 4th century in Brychan Brycheiniog (formerly known as Brecon Beacons) She was reputedly the prettiest of King Brychan Brycheiniog’s 24 daughters. She fell in love with a local lad called Maelon Dafodrill, but King Brychan had already arranged for her to marry another prince. Maelon took the news badly, so the distraught Dwynwen fled to the woods to weep, and begged God to help her. She was visited by an angel who gave her a sweet potion to help her forget Maelon, which happened to turn him into a block of ice.

God then granted Dwynwen three wishes. Her first wish was that Maelon be thawed; her second wish was for God to help all true lovers; her third wish was that she would never marry. In gratitude, Dwynwen became a nun and set up a convent on Llanddwyn Island, a beautiful little spot on Anglesey. Her name means, ‘she who leads a blessed life’.

Despite the wet and blowy weather, the beautiful dog friendly beach called Poppit Sands (approx 3 miles from us) is still a great place to walk the dogs 🥾, hunt the rock pools 🦀, surf 🏄and generally blow away stress and cobwebs 💨. We are offering a 25% discount on next weeks vacancies. Any 3 nights or more Sunday 2nd - Sunday 10th April.
