At Eden Grove Cottage, we try to avoid tumble drying, artificial fabric smells and prefer the natural approach to laundry. (Garden isn’t at the cottage btw). edengrovecottage.com

Guests often don't manage to consume all of the food and drink they bring with them...(often getting tempted by the fare on offer at the local pubs!). We made our first donation of unopened ('doesn't need to be refrigerated') food to our local food-bank yesterday with food left for this purpose by our guests and will continue to do so. We're supporting https://upperedenfoodbank.org.uk/ and https://eastyorkshire.foodbank.org.uk/ through donations to their supermarket collection points. So...please don't throw unopened food and drink away...leave it for us in the kitchen.... and we'll make sure it has a 'higher' purpose! (Other waste food will be 'worm' composted).

We run the largest network of foodbanks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Thirteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year we gave 1,084,604 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.

Look away now if you're squeamish!. True to our eco-principles, we've set up a wormery at Eden Grove Cottage. Like a composter...but super-fast and without smells, tiger worms in the wormery will turn Eden Grove Cottage kitchen waste into compost for our plants. If you stay at Eden Grove, please use the kitchen caddy to divert your kitchen waste from the bin...and simply empty into the wormery...but equally, if you can't, we understand! (Tip: if you have kids, try saying 'no' to this!!) 😉 edengrovecottage.com
