3 Ways, The Square, Orton, Cumbria.
3 Ways sits in the heart of the village of Orton in the Westmorland Dales. Here you have the best of both worlds, a location which is in the Lake District and also part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and very handy for both.
Described by Alfred Wainwright as one of the prettiest villages in the old county of Westmorland, Orton is surrounded by beautiful countryside including the Howgill Fells and Great Asby Scar National Nature reserve. We are very near to the route of the Coast to Coast walk and on a number of cycle routes including the Pennine Cycleway (68) the Walney to Wear and Whitby Cycle Route and National route 71.
Orton is a proper community, retaining the amenities that other villages have lost. We have an excellent shop and post office, a good pub, an award-winning café (with possibly the best all day breakfast in the North of England) and even a chocolate factory! What more could you want? A Farmers Market? Certainly, we have one of those on the second Saturday of every month. National Farmers Market of the Year incidentally.
Staying at 3 Ways puts you at the centre of this community, yet only yards from footpaths that will take you to remote fell tops. The Eden valley is one of the best kept secrets of Cumbria, with beautiful villages such as Maulds Meaburn as well as charming market towns such as Appleby and Kirkby Stephen a short drive away. Go west and the eastern fells of the Lake District are only half an hour away.
3 Ways itself is over 200 years old and was originally two cottages. With three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, we can sleep 6 comfortably (there is also a folding bed, should you wish to squeeze in an extra guest for a night or two!) There is an en-suite to one bedroom and a family bathroom/wet room. On the ground floor there is a large lounge with woodburning stove, TV with Freeview. There is plenty of room in the dining room and there is a fully equipped Kitchen with modern appliances, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Tumble Drier, Microwave, Kettle, Toaster and hopefully all the crockery and cutlery that you will need. There is also a downstairs cloakroom.
Naturally we provide the consumables that you might need, from dishwasher tablets to tissues.
We have secure storage for bicycles, boots and wet gear and we welcome clean, dry, well-behaved dogs.
