It was super to be invited down to Ulverston last night to present our EBC and Kilimanjaro expeditions to prospective fundraisers of St Mary's Hospice.

We ran our first trip with St Mary's Hospice fundraisers in 2022, and since then they've raised over £100,000 for the Hospice by trekking to amazing places with us.

The presentation evening is always a great way for me to deliver the finer points of the expedition and answer any questions.

We're always keen to build new relationships, so if you're a charity looking for similar trips, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Lobuche East Training Day - in the Lake District

I'll always aim to do the best I can with regards to helping people head off on expedition feeling as prepared as they can be. This ranges from Trip Dossiers, Blogs and Infocasts through to Zoom Meetings, Group meet-ups, and Training Days.

With winter making a potentially fleeting revisit to the Lake District Fells I invited Mark out onto the hills to help him get to grips with some of the skills and kit he'll require for his upcoming ascent of the 6119m tall Lobuche East in Nepal.

We covered all sorts, from walking and climbing in crampons through to Ice Axe usage.

Mark has also been fitness training with me for a while now through Summit Push Fitness, so it was ace to see how far he'd come with his hill fitness whilst out too.

Our May departure to Mount Toubkal has now completely sold out! We've now added a second summer expedition to the diary for 2025, and this departs in October.

This is a fantastic time to visit Morocco, as the temperatures start to drop from the heat of the summer, and the colours are beginning to change ahead of winter. We love our trip itinerary for our Mount Toubkal ascents. This is far from a 'quick hit' with extra days built in to help you get the best out of your time in country, and to enhance your chances of summit success.

Today, all but 2 members of our April '25 Everest Base Camp group managed to meet up for a rather chilly walk up The Old Man of Coniston here in the Lake District.

The meet up was a perfect chance for folks to put faces to names, ask questions and generally start getting to know each other. They have an awesome adventure coming up in the not too distant future, and I'm sure off the back of this folks are feeling a little more prepared, and also a little more excited!

Next stop - Kathmandu! 78 days to go!

We ascended the Machame Route through differing terrains over 4.5 days. Our summit morning was blessed with a gorgeous full moon, we really couldn't have asked for more.

Mount Meru is the 5th tallest mountain in Africa and it stands at 4,566m. We used it as a means of acclimatisation and variety to our Kilimanjaro expedition, and it came out as one of the main highlights of the entire trip for so many people.

Our summit day was sensational, producing a sunrise that none of us will ever forget.

Kilimanjaro - 5895m

The tallest mountain in North Africa & the tallest free standing mountain in the world!

What a cool trip this was. After dropping down from Mlunt Meru, which served as a brilliant place to acclimatise, we could then climb Kilimanjaro via the Machame route over just 5.5 days.

The route started in the rainforest and soon moved to moorland. After day 2 you're then into what's known as 'Arctic Desert'. The pace is slow and steady, and the food is superb, given where you are.

The team did super well and continued to bite chunks out of this massive dormant volcano, and before we knew it we'd made it to Barafu Camp at 4,800m ready to launch our summit push. Midnight soon came and we left the tents, following a trail of lights up the hill, with more joining us behind. The summit slopes to Stella Point went on and on, and mental resolve was being tested as much as the physical fitness of those trying to reach the top. Just before sunrise we reached Stella Point, which then left just 45 minutes of easier walking to get to the highest point on the Crater rim, also known as Uhuru Peak.

The challenge had been completed, and we were rewarded with excellent views. The rest of that day saw us descend down to Mweka Camp at about 3,200m, and then a final 3 hour hike on the last day completed our journey.

The Kilimanjaro expedition really is something different to say, heading to Nepal. It certainly challenges you, and with camping being the accommodation, this adds a different dimension too.
