Visitors love to see and hear the swallows here. Usually I count around 18 to 20 clutches successfully fledging. Sadly this year we have only had 6 active nests with the present brood about to fly. I'm reliably told that this summer, insect counts are down approx 60% which coupled with midsummer storms have no doubt impacted the survival of my favourite summer migrant. 😥
