Here is a poem dedicated to the children of Beetham, in memory of all those who played a part in our growing up journey, for our families and the children who are no longer with us.

Childhood Reminisce

Memories of those halcyon days.
Landscape adventures, unscripted plays.
Happy laughter, no gender division.
What to do next? A team decision.
Racing through nooks and crannies.
Watched over by the village grannies.
Safe in the heraldic street,
Treading the way of ancestral feet.
Leading the religious revolution
Up against church constitution.
Knowing what was right from wrong!
Childhood friendships, lifelong.
Never out of sight, out of mind.
A stronger bond is hard to find
Building towers of respect
Finding places to reflect.

Janice Owen , nee Wilson
Writer
7th generation of the Ancient Parish of Beetham.
